Box Office Updates: Ant-Man and The Wasp Go to the Movies
The summer box office season is in its final stretch, but we have some more updates on two superhero movies.
Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp held onto 7th place in its fifth weekend of release in North America, grossing an estimated $6.2 million. This brings its domestic total to $195.5 million, so it should hit the $200 million mark soon. Overseas, the film had a boost from a $6.2 million opening in the UK. The movie is now at $426.3 million worldwide. After it opens in China and other markets, it should easily pass the first Ant-Man‘s lifetime gross.
Now, let’s talk about DC’s current movie in theaters. Teen Titans GO! To the Movies dropped to 10th place this weekend, grossing an estimated $4.9 million. This is a 53% drop from last week. The film is currently at $20.8 million domestically and $2.4 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $23.2 million. Normally, this would be pretty bad for a superhero film, but its production budget was only $10 million. So, it has already doubled its budget, and it’s still going to turn quite the profit.
Stay tuned for more updates as we have them.
