ARROW Star Stephen Amell Promises We’ll See Oliver Queen’s Goatee…Eventually

The CW’s Arrow has taken its time to gradually introduce Green Arrow’s more comic book-y characteristics, such as his mask, politics, and even the name “Green Arrow.” But one thing that hasn’t shown up is Oliver Queen’s signature goatee. We saw a future version of Oliver with the beard on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but that’s about it.

Stephen Amell previously explained that he didn’t grow a beard out during the first five seasons because he had to shoot flashback scenes too, when Oliver didn’t have a goatee, while he refused to wear a fake beard again after Legends. So, when is it coming?

At Salt Lake Comic-Con (via Comic Book), Amell was asked once more about the future of Green Arrow’s facial hair. He says that before Arrow ends its run – whenever that happens – we’ll see the goatee. “I promise you, before the series – not season, series – ends, we will have at least one shot with the iconic goatee.”

Arrow will begin its sixth season this fall. While it hasn’t been formally renewed beyond that (yet), showrunner Marc Guggenheim previously said that there are already ideas for a seventh season. So, basically, there are no plans to end the show anytime soon, so the goatee can pop up anytime. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Arrow returns on Thursday, October 12th at 9 PM EST on The CW.
