ARROW News Bits: Steven McQueen Talks Nightwing, “Birds Of Prey” Logline, Episode 20 Title
A few months ago, The Vampire Diaries actor Steven McQueen shared his interest in playing Nightwing on The CW’s Arrow. Obviously, we don’t know if Dick Grayson will be appearing on the series anytime soon (if ever), but McQueen did apparently meet with the producers about a role in Arrow. Now, speaking with Access Hollywood (via Superhero Movie News), he once again mentions Nightwing when discussing future projects. “Hopefully soon Nightwing on a show called Arrow, but still waiting to hear about that.”
However, the chances of Nightwing appearing on Arrow are slim. While the producers of the series have expressed interest in bringing the character to Starling City (even including a Bludhaven reference), they added that, due to Batman’s current presence on the big screen, this probably won’t happen. Not to mention, Nightwing himself is reportedly featured in the Batman vs. Superman movie. But perhaps that has changed, and Dick Grayson is now available for use on Arrow? We’ll have to wait and see.
Meanwhile, we have the official description for S2E17, “Birds of Prey”. Set to air on March 26th, the episode will see the return of The Huntress, as she butts heads with Black Canary in her latest attempt to exact vengeance on her father. The plot logline also teases new developments for Laurel and Roy.
WHEN THE HUNTRESS MET THE CANARY — When Frank Bertinelli (guest star Jeffrey Nordling) is arrested, Oliver (Stephen Amell) knows it’s only a matter of time before his daughter, Helena, AKA The Huntress (guest star Jessica De Gouw), returns to town. To make matters worse, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is picked to try Frank’s case, putting her right in the path of Helena. Oliver tells Sara (Caity Lotz) he will handle his ex-girlfriend, but when Helena takes hostages at the courthouse, including Laurel, the Canary will stop at nothing to save her sister. When The Huntress and Canary meet, an epic battle begins. Meanwhile, Roy (Colton Haynes) realizes he needs to keep Thea (Willa Holland) safe, but doesn’t like the way he is forced to go about it. John Behring directed the episode written by Mark Bemesderfer & A.C. Bradley.
Finally, executive producer Marc Guggenheim has announced that S2E20 has begun production. The title is “Seeing Red”. No further details are given, but it has been speculated that it will involve Roy’s transition into Red Arrow or a similar character. It’s also worth noting that Episode 20 was originally going to serve as the backdoor pilot for The Flash, before plans were scrapped for giving the Scarlet Speedster his own pilot. Additionally, Guggenheim notes that the title for Episode 19 has yet to be revealed because a “special announcement” is pending.
