With all of the exciting DC characters appearing in Suicide Squad, one hero who has been rumored to be making a cameo of some sort is Batman. Ben Affleck plays the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he is expected to reprise the role for many more DC films. Batman will almost definitely be referenced in Suicide Squad – with the presence of The Joker, Harley Quinn and other Batman villains – but as for a full-fledged appearance, it sounds like it’ll depend on Affleck’s schedule.
Now, a new report may reveal where the Dark Knight will fit not only in Suicide Squad, but within the DC Cinematic Universe. Latino-Review’s El Mayimbe is back with yet another Squad scoop, and this time, he tackles Batman’s rumored presence. What interested does Amanda Waller have in him? What is Batman’s relationship with The Joker like? What does the government think? All that and more are revealed in the following.
[Warning: The Following Contains Potential SPOILERS From Suicide Squad.]
So, in Suicide Squad, the government despises Batman, whom they consider a “big boogeyman.” Prior to the events of Batman v Superman, the only person to truly meet or know the Dark Knight is The Joker. And with Joker in Amanda Waller’s custody, she sees him as a tool in her mission to find Batman.
Additionally, in this movie, there is (presumably security) footage of Batman in action being seen. And in the scene, there is dialogue saying that Batman is the key to finding “the supers.” This is almost definitely referring to the growing number of superheroes in this world – Superman, Wonder Woman, etc.
Some very interesting details here. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters August 5th, 2016. The third installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis and Jared Leto. David Ayer writes and directs.
