Jeffrey Dean Morgan Refuses to Confirm Role in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
During the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice production last year, a mysterious painting was spotted on set. The painting shows a man who looks a lot like Jeffrey Dean Morgan, sparking rumors that the actor could be playing the late Thomas Wayne, aka Batman’s father. Could this painting be shown in one or more scenes set in Wayne Manor? Perhaps.
Now, Morgan has weighed in on that rumor. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (transcription via CBM), the actor was asked if that was really him in the painting. He says, “I think you have to go watch the movie to see if that’s me. That looks a lot like me, man.”
If Morgan was not involved with Batman v Superman at all, then he could have just outright denied the rumors. But the fact that he is playing coy about it suggests there’s more than meets the eye. Morgan did work with director Zack Snyder before on Watchmen, so it’s not surprising to think the two would reunite for this film. And of course, any role Thomas Wayne would have in Dawn of Justice beyond the painting would likely be brief flashbacks to the night he and his wife Martha were murdered, putting Bruce on the path to becoming Batman.
As Morgan says, we probably won’t know for sure if Morgan is in Batman v Superman until the movie releases. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters March 25th, 2016. The second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Gal Gadot. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio and David S Goyer.
