Disney Expected to Lose Over $50 Million on SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY
By now, it’s no secret that Solo: A Star Wars Story is a box office disappointment, turning in a poor opening weekend and having a big second-weekend drop. But now, it looks like it’s officially a real box office bomb – something that’s rare for Disney and Lucasfilm. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Solo is expected to lose a decent amount of money for the studio. According to Wall Street analyst Barton Crockett, the film will lose more than $50 million. However, other industry financing sources suggest that that number could rise to over $80 million. It’s unknown how Disney’s television and home entertainment deals, as well as marketing, would affect…

Box Office Report: SOLO Drops Big in Second Weekend, DEADPOOL 2 Nears $600 Million Worldwide
Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story experienced an underwhelming box office opening last weekend, making just a little over $100 million over four days. Compared to other recent Star Wars movies, that’s really low. It’s especially bad when considering the film’s $250-300 million (possibly more) budget. So, eyes are on later weeks to see how it performs. Unfortunately, if its second weekend is any indicator, it’s not looking too good. Per Box Office Mojo, Solo grossed an estimated $29.3 million this weekend. While it still retains the #1 spot, that’s a 65% drop from last week. It’s still a smaller drop than The Last Jedi‘s 67% drop, but not by much.…

BIRDS OF PREY Movie Rumored to Include Huntress
It was recently confirmed that DC is moving forward with a Birds of Prey movie, starring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and directed by Cathy Yan. The film, which is beginning production in January, will include an ensemble of female characters from the DC Universe. Batgirl is expected to be involved, but Catwoman will not be. Characters like Black Canary and Penguin have also been rumored. Now, we have another name to add to the list. Omega Underground has learned that Huntress will be appearing in Birds of Prey. This makes sense, considering that she is a frequent member of the Birds of Prey in the comics. The Huntress persona has been…

THE CROW Remake Loses its Star and Director…Again
Another movie based on The Crow has been in development off-and-on for the past decade. However, they have now dropped out too. According to Deadline, Jason Momoa and Corin Hardy have formally exited The Crow Reborn. What’s Next For Star Wars After “Solo” Underwhelms?
Solo: A Star Wars Story, the second “Star Wars Story” since the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012 came out this past weekend to a an underwhelming $84.8 Million, marking this as the least successful installment of the franchise in the Disney era. By all accounts, it is safe to say this is the worst received critical installment of the Disney era as well, and cost over $250 million dollars to make. This number would not seem so high had Solo done even half as well as Rogue One, which literally made over $1 Billion dollars at the global box office. Granted this number came a month after the release, and the…

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Underperforms with Estimated $84.8 Million 3-Day Weekend
This weekend sees the release of Lucasfilm’s second Star Wars spinoff, Solo. The film has faced a lot of negative buzz in the past year, primarily due to switching directors during production. It has also had a smaller marketing campaign, while it arrives just a few weeks after Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. Unfortunately, these factors and more have led to an underwhelming opening. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Solo is grossing an estimated $84.8 million over the three-day weekend, and it is expected to hit $103 million over the four-day Memorial Day weekend. This is easily the smallest opening for any of Disney’s Star Wars movies, and it is a…
