Disney Launches Oscars Campaign for BLACK PANTHER
Every year, fans have clamored for superhero movies to receive more recognition at the Academy Awards. Movies like The Dark Knight, Suicide Squad, and Logan have gotten nominations and even wins in key categories, but then we have movies like Wonder Woman, which wasn’t even nominated for anything. Well, Disney and Marvel are hoping to change that this year.
Disney has launched a major “For Your Consideration” Oscars campaign for Marvel’s Black Panther. The studio is pushing for the film to be nominated in the following categories…
- Best Picture
- Best Director
- Best Adapted Screenplay
- Best Actor
- Best Supporting Actor
- Best Supporting Actress
- Best Cinematography
- Best Film Editing
- Best Production Design
- Best Costume Design
- Best Makeup & Hairstyling
- Best Sound Mixing
- Best Sound Editing
- Best Visual Effects
- Best Original Score
- Best Original Song
Black Panther made waves this year like few other superhero films in history. Even in the same year as Avengers: Infinity War, T’Challa’s debut film had consistently demonstrated its cultural impact. It has the highest critical ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, while it is the only comic book movie to ever gross $700 million in North America. If any modern superhero film can hit big at the Oscars, it’s Black Panther. But, we’re just gonna have to wait and see.
