Ryan Coogler Signs on to Write and Direct BLACK PANTHER 2
The word is out, the word is given. And the word fresh from The Hollywood Reporter is that Ryan Coogler has signed on to write and direct the sequel to his February smash hit, Black Panther.
Fans have been clamoring for news on this front since Wakanda graced the silver screen. Coogler is expected to pen the sequel early next year, with an eye on a late 2019/early 2020 start date.
With over $1.3 billion in Wakandan Treasury notes (i.e. Box Office receipts), the sequel should be another hit maker for Disney and Marvel. Only time will tell if the film lives up to the critical success of the original.
In the meantime, Disney hopes to keep you tided over with a new limited comic series from Bryan Edward Hill and the animated Black Panther’s Quest, currently airing on Disney XD.
