Box Office Updates: Ant-Man and The Wasp Go to the Movies
The summer box office season is in its final stretch, but we have some more updates on two superhero movies. Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp held onto 7th place in its fifth weekend of release in North America, grossing an estimated $6.2 million. This brings its domestic total to $195.5 million, so it should hit the $200 million mark soon. Overseas, the film had a boost from a $6.2 million opening in the UK. The movie is now at $426.3 million worldwide. After it opens in China and other markets, it should easily pass the first Ant-Man‘s lifetime gross. Now, let’s talk about DC’s current movie in theaters. Teen Titans GO! To…

Now, six months after release, it’s finally hitting one more key milestone. Per Variety, Black Panther is reaching the $700 million mark at the domestic box office this weekend. The movie has been sitting around $699 million forever, inching closer and closer to $700 million. But an unexpected theater boost this week is pushing the film over. ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Passes First Film Domestically, Still Behind Overseas
Ant-Man and The Wasp has been out in the United States and other markets for close to a month now, and today, we have an update on where the Marvel sequel stands in comparison to the original. Per Box Office Mojo, the film has passed the first Ant-Man domestically, hitting $183.1 million this weekend, against the original’s $180.2 million. However, when it comes to overseas, Ant-Man and The Wasp is still trailing, grossing $211.1 million vs. the first’s $339.1 million. So, the sequel has only made $394.2 million worldwide at this point. Before anyone says this is bad, there’s a very good reason why Ant-Man and The Wasp hasn’t passed…

TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES Comes Behind Expectations with Estimated $10.5 Million Opening
A few weeks ago, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies was tracking to open somewhere between $14 million and $19 million. However, the weekend estimates are in, and the film is opening with even less than that. Per Box Office Mojo, Teen Titans GO! is opening with an estimated $10.5 million, putting it in 5th place. Meanwhile, the film opened in eight international markets, bringing in about $1 million, putting its worldwide debut at $11.5 million. Additionally, the movie earned a lukewarm B+ on CinemaScore, while critics have been very positive. This is definitely an underwhelming debut for Teen Titans GO!, especially given its initial tracking. However, it’s still a stretch…

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Falls to #2 in its Second Weekend
Ant-Man and The Wasp is now in its second weekend, where it faces off against new competitors Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper. The Marvel Studios sequel still held its own, but it still had a larger-than-usual drop for a MCU movie. Per Box Office Mojo, Ant-Man and The Wasp grossed $29.1 million this weekend, putting it in second place behind Hotel Transylvania 3‘s $44.1 million. This gives the movie a 61.6% drop from its opening weekend. This puts it right behind Spider-Man: Homecoming (62.2%) as one of the largest second-weekend drops in the entire MCU. It’s not all bad news, however. Ant-Man and The Wasp reached $133.1…

TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES Tracking to Open Below $20 Million
Teen Titans GO! To the Movies has hit box office tracking two weeks out. While it’s still early days, the animated movie is currently on track for a pretty small opening. According to Variety, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies is tracking to open somewhere between $14 million and $19 million. The film is opening on the same day as Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which is on track for a $60 million~ debut. This gives Titans big competition, along with several other family films out this summer. But before we call gloom and doom on the movie, it’s important to consider a few factors. First off, tracking can always go up…

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Shrinks the Competition with $75.8 Million Opening Weekend
Marvel Studios’ winning streak continues this weekend with its third movie of the year and 20th overall, Ant-Man and The Wasp. The sequel has been earning positive reviews from fans and critics so far, while it has been on track for a solid opening. Now, we have the initial estimates. Per Box Office Mojo, Ant-Man and The Wasp opened with $75.8 million this weekend, easily winning the top spot. While that’s a good number – it’s nearly $20 million more than the first Ant-Man‘s opening – this is one of the lowest MCU openings. In fact, it’s one of only five movies to open to less than $80 million. It’s…

Box Office Updates for DEADPOOL 2 and SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY
This weekend has been dominated by new release Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and last week’s Incredibles 2, but some other movies have reached key box office milestones. Per Box Office Mojo, Fox’s Deadpool 2 took in an estimated $5.3 million this weekend, bringing its domestic total to $304.2 million. It also reached $403 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $707.2 million. While it’s still lagging a bit behind the first film, these are impressive numbers, particularly when you consider the amount of competition this summer. Things don’t look nearly as good for Solo: A Star Wars Story, however. The film grossed an additional $4.5 million this weekend, finally edging it…

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Tracking for a $75 Million Opening Weekend
At this point, everyone knows that a Marvel movie is going to make a ton of money. That looks to be the case with its next title, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which has hit tracking boards this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ant-Man and The Wasp is tracking to gross $75 million in its opening weekend. If the movie sticks to that, it will have a noticeably bigger opening than the first Ant-Man, which debuted with $57.2 million in 2015. Of course, since it’s early days still, tracking will likely change as we draw closer to release. Assuming the movie gets positive word-of-mouth, then expect tracking to increase. Ant-Man…
