Entertainment Weekly is exploring the world of DC Films’ Aquaman in this week’s issue. In addition to the covers we saw earlier, the magazine debuted several still images from the movie. Some of them offer long-awaited first looks at the film’s villains, Black Manta and Orm. The Black Manta picture sees David Kane (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) working on his helmet, which is very faithful to the comic book version. However, Kane is a new name for him, as he was previously surnamed Hyde in the comics. And yes, he will shoot red plasma beams out of his eyes. Director James Wan calls Black Manta a “part mercenary but full-time pirate,”…

Why Warner Bros. Should Still Make a JUSTICE LEAGUE Sequel
It’s been a few months, and DC Films’ Justice League has come and gone. The film received lukewarm reviews and underperformed at the box office; in fact, Warner Bros. lost money on it. Thus, it’d be surprising if the studio spent another dime on the movie, even for the mysterious “Snyder Cut.” But what about a sequel? WB originally announced a second Justice League movie in 2014, back when the plan was to tell the story over two parts. However, the studio abbreviated it to the one movie. And now that the movie didn’t make money, that decreases the chances of any sort of follow-up. I’m probably the only person…

Now, however, it looks like her break will be a permanent one. It has been announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Diane Nelson is leaving Warner Bros. and DC, after more than 20 years of working with the studio. Nelson joined DC as president in 2009, playing a critical role in bringing the company’s film, TV, and video game divisions closer together, and on the same page with WB. It was recently confirmed that DC is moving forward with a Birds of Prey movie, starring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and directed by Cathy Yan. The film, which is beginning production in January, will include an ensemble of female characters from the DC Universe. Batgirl is expected to be involved, but Catwoman will not be. Characters like Black Canary and Penguin have also been rumored. Now, we have another name to add to the list. Omega Underground has learned that Huntress will be appearing in Birds of Prey. This makes sense, considering that she is a frequent member of the Birds of Prey in the comics. The Huntress persona has been…
