Jared Leto is Developing His Own Joker Movie Now
Following Jared Leto’s debut as Joker in Suicide Squad, fans have been wondering when we’d see him pop up next. There has been talk of Leto returning for a Harley Quinn vs. Joker movie, Gotham City Sirens, and/or a Suicide Squad sequel. On top of that, Warner Bros. is developing a Joker origin movie that’s not canon, with Joaquin Phoenix rumored to star. But that’s not all, as WB adds another title to the slate.
According to Variety, Jared Leto is attached to star in and executive produce a solo movie starring his Joker. This comes as WB seeks to expand the world of Suicide Squad with multiple spinoffs. Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn will headline Birds of Prey (taking precedence over the other alleged Harley projects), while a Deadshot movie was rumored years ago. So, the next step is to spin off Leto’s Joker.
Obviously, this Joker movie is in the very early stages of development. Leto and the studio are currently seeking a writer, while no director is attached. Honestly, with all the alleged movies that have entered development lately, it’s hard to tell which ones will actually see the light of day. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
