5 Characters (and Actors) Who Need to Return to the DC Extended Universe
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is a few movies in, and it has already brought countless DC characters to the big screen. Many of them are ongoing roles, with future films/appearances confirmed. These include heroes, villains, and other supporting characters. However, there are also some characters whose futures are uncertain. While not entirely ruled out, Warner Bros. has yet to confirmed more appearances from specific characters. That’s what we’re talking about today. Below, we list five DCEU characters (and their actors) who need to make a comeback. Deadshot (Will Smith) Floyd Lawton was one of the highlights of Suicide Squad, and getting Will Smith to play him was a brilliant…

Why Warner Bros. Should #ReleaseTheAyerCut of SUICIDE SQUAD
Recently, fans achieved a major victory when Warner Bros. finally confirmed plans to release Zack Snyder‘s version of Justice League. Dubbed Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the alternate cut of the movie will be released on HBO Max in 2021. With this victory under their belt, fans have turned to a new campaign for another DC movie: the director’s cut of Suicide Squad. While Suicide Squad was a financial hit in 2016, there is no secret that the studio tampered with director David Ayer‘s vision. Originally a darker comic book tale, WB pushed for reshoots to lighten the tone, in the wake of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s poor reviews.…

Why Didn’t BIRDS OF PREY Take Flight at the Box Office?
DC Films continued to expand its universe with this year’s Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). A spinoff from Suicide Squad, the film sees Harley Quinn set out on her own and join forces with other characters, leading to the Birds of Prey. The movie had all the right things going for it: positive reviews, a dedicated cast, and the promise of another director-driven story from DC. This should have led to a big box office turnout, right? Well, not so much. Birds of Prey grossed about $202 million worldwide on a reported $84.5 million budget. While not a huge flop – Justice League lost…

John Cena in Talks to Join THE SUICIDE SQUAD
Warner Bros.‘ Suicide Squad sequel, titled The Suicide Squad, is shifting the franchise in a new direction, as it will introduce many new characters. Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller are all returning. But otherwise, the film is expected to consist of an entirely new roster, including a character played by Idris Elba. Now, the film is looking to make another big addition to its cast. WWE superstar-turned-actor-turned Internet meme John Cena is in talks to make his comic book movie debut with The Suicide Squad. It’s currently unknown who he will be playing. This is a role intended for Dave Bautista, who was widely expected to reunite with…

Idris Elba To Replace Will Smith As Deadshot In James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’
Last week it was reported that Will Smith would not be reprising his role as Deadshot in the upcoming James Gunn-directed sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad, due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ (gotta film that Bright sequel). Now The Hollywood Reporter, has revealed that no other than Idris Elba is in talks to replace Will Smith as the assassin turned anti-hero. Elba was allegedly Gunn’s first and only choice for the role after Smith walked, and last Friday had a meeting with the actor that went well. The Suicide Squad will feature a primarily new cast aside from a few returnees, one of those hopefully being Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. There are…

Will Smith Will Not Return for THE SUICIDE SQUAD
Despite Suicide Squad‘s massive financial success, Warner Bros. has taken its time with getting a sequel rolling. After several director changes, former guardian of the galaxy James Gunn is taking the helm. The sequel, now titled The Suicide Squad, will consist of a mostly new cast of characters. It’s been unknown how many characters from the first film will return. But now, we know one who will not be back. Will Smith, who played renown assassin Deadshot in Suicide Squad, will not return for the sequel. Apparently, it came down to scheduling conflicts. Smith’s busy schedule was one reason why the sequel has taken so long, so now, it’s moving…

James Gunn to Direct SUICIDE SQUAD 2; Scheduled for a 2021 Release
Director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) was already writing the script for Suicide Squad 2, but now it looks like he’s getting back into the director’s chair. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn will write and direct the Suicide Squad sequel. After the financial success and the mixed critical reception of the first film, Warner Bros. decided to change things up. The film will feature a mostly new team, with Will Smith (Deadshot), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) likely returning. It will reportedly have Gunn’s fingerprints all over it. So, if you were a fan of his Marvel films, this is definitely something you should be…

Five Members Who Should Join James Gunn’s SUICIDE SQUAD
James Gunn writing the Suicide Squad Sequel has us reeling with possibilities of potential players. We pushed out villains we want to see as part of the squad, but let’s take a look at some members for our villains to bounce off of, and some characters operating in morally grey seeking to serve their debt, or not be exposed by Waller. Black Orchid (Suicide Squad #4 August 1987) Yes, the current Black Orchid, Alba Garcia, is a member of Justice League: Dark, and there’s a chance they might want to use the current incarnation. However, the original Black Orchid, Susan Linden-Thorne, mysterious investigator and master of disguise, worked with Suicide…

James Gunn Shifting to DC, Will Write (and Possibly Direct) SUICIDE SQUAD 2
Taking all controversy aside for a second, this is something that I find highly ironic, even though there is nothing weird about a director and writer going from one ship to the next (normally). According to reports, James Gunn, the writer and director of Marvel’s two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, is now set to write DC’s Suicide Squad 2, with an eye to direct. Which is quite ironic considering Warner Bros. wanted the original Suicide Squad to be its answer to Guardians of the Galaxy. On what’s happened to Gavin O’Connor, the previous director? Well, it looks like it was creative differences that made him fall back, according to…

Will Smith Still Wants His DEADSHOT Movie
Will Smith recently celebrated his 50th birthday. Like most 50 year olds, Smith celebrated his big day by jumping into the Grand Canyon. Before his jump, he did a Q&A with his fans. One of the fans asked Smith if he was still interested in a potential Deadshot movie. Here’s what Smith had to say: I hope so, I love playing Deadshot, I’ve really enjoyed that character. They’ve been talking about it, so if a good idea comes around… we’ve been having meetings. But I’d love to. I love Deadshot. We don’t know if a Deadshot movie is in Walter Hamada’s plans for the Worlds of DC, but it’s nice to know…
