Ryan Reynolds Uncertain Over Doing a Third DEADPOOL Movie
Deadpool 2 is finally hitting theaters this month, and the sequel looks to be another big hit. The film has been generating plenty of positive online buzz, while it’s tracking to open as high as $150 million. Deadpool is also appearing in the planned X-Force movie. Naturally, this success would guarantee a third installment, right?
Well, star Ryan Reynolds has shed some doubt on that. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly for the magazine’s Deadpool 2 coverage, Reynolds says he doesn’t know if a third Deadpool movie will happen. And no, it has nothing to do with Disney’s acquisition of Fox. “I feel like the character, in order for him to function properly within his own universe, you need to take everything away from him. I don’t think that you can keep doing that. I do see him as being a part of X-Force, obviously. I would love to see him in a team-up sort of thing, like a mano a mano or a great female character from the X-Men universe. I just think if you’re going to do another Deadpool solo film, you’ve got to really, like, get that budget down to nothing and just swing for the fences, and break all kinds of weird barriers, and do stuff that no one else can do.”
So basically, Reynolds is unsure if another solo Deadpool could work unless they drastically change up the formula. It’s possible that they’ll find a way to make this happen, especially if Deadpool 2 is a hit, but we’ll see.
