AMC Orders Pilot for PREACHER
The explosion of DC Comics on television is set to continue as Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s Preacher has received a pilot order. If picked up, Preacher will follow Arrow, Flash, Constantine, iZombie and next year’s Supergirl to television. The pilot is being developed by Point Grey Pictures, a production company started by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. They’ve teamed up with Prison Break and Fast and Furious producer, Neal H. Moritz. Also joining them will be Breaking Bad producer, Sam Catlin to develop the show. Sony Television and AMC Studios own the rights to the show and it has been highly sought after already. ARROW Preps for Major Return While iZOMBIE Adds Some Wings
While the CW is getting ready to premiere the first half of their “Flash vs Arrow” crossover event, the internet was treated to some breaking news concerning the future of the DC/CW-Verse; a major return on Arrow while the upcoming iZombie has added to their cast. First up, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Steven Weber will be joining the iZombie cast for at least two episodes. After weeks of rumors, Warner Bros. has finally announced its very impressive cast for Suicide Squad, the third movie in the DC Cinematic Universe. As previously reported, Margot Robbie is set to play Harley Quinn, Jared Leto has been cast as The Joker, and Tom Hardy will play Rick Flagg. In more surprising news, however, Will Smith will lead the ensemble cast as Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot. Jai Courtney, who was previously linked to that role, will instead play Digger Harkness, aka Captain Boomerang. DC Movie Bits: SUICIDE SQUAD Production Update, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Talks SANDMAN, More From Guillermo del Toro On DARK UNIVERSE
We recently heard that Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad was set to begin production next April in Toronto, and now, The Hollywood Reporter has a few new tidbits to add. According to the site, the David Ayer-directed DC Comics adaptation will begin pre-production in February at Pinewood Toronto Studios, before shooting commences two months later. While the initial report says the production will last until August, THR says that Suicide Squad is expected to finish filming in September. Also, THR provides an update on the casting process. A few weeks ago, CBS sent out a casting call for characters in Supergirl, the latest DC Comics adaptation for television. And now, we finally have our first candidate for the role of Superman’s iconic cousin. According to The Wrap, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals‘ Claire Holt is one of the actresses in contention for the titular superheroine, aka Kara Zor-El. The other actresses are not named in the report, and it is unknown whether or not Holt is the frontrunner at this stage.
