ARROW’s Ray Palmer And Felicity Smoak To Guest-Star In THE FLASH Episode 18
Ray Palmer (played by former Superman Brandon Routh) is one of the most praised additions to this season of Arrow, which returns from its winter hiatus tonight. So much so, that there is talk of spinning off The Atom into his own series. Palmer is currently moving towards becoming the DC superhero, with his hi-tech suit being teased several times. But while we wait for him to officially don the costume, it appears that Palmer will be paying a visit to Central City – and he’s bringing a familiar face with him.
Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim spoke with Variety recently to promote tonight’s midseason premiere of Arrow. During the interview, it was revealed that Ray Palmer and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) will guest star in The Flash‘s eighteenth episode, which is called “All-Star Team-Up.” Kreisberg had this to say on how the two characters fit into this episode, as well as how it impacts Palmer’s evolution into Atom. “In episode four of Flash when Felicity came by, it wasn’t just a gag to have Felicity come by. It really was integrated into the story. When you reach what’s going on in The Flash at that point in the season, Barry is really at a crossroads. Having Felicity come by exactly when he needs her really plays into the whole storyline. It’s fine because as Marc said, Ray Palmer is all about technology and STAR Labs is all about technology. We get to see Ray so happy to be in STAR Labs… With Cisco [Carlos Valdes] and Ray, they’re new best friends. The STAR Labs team is going to help Ray further his ATOM project.”
This marks the fourth episode of The Flash that featured characters from Arrow. Oliver Queen cameo’d in the pilot of the spin-off series, while Felicity guest-starred in episode four. Then there was episode eight, which was “Flash vs. Arrow” and featured Oliver, Felicity and John Diggle. Crossovers such as these are a neat way to remind viewers that both shows exist in the same world. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
