Is Doomsday Set To Appear In BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE?
With Lex Luthor set as the main villain in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, much speculation has focused on who the other antagonist would be. Past rumors had suggested that Doomsday will take on the Man of Steel and co. in this film, and now we have more fuel to the fire. According to Bleeding Cool, “rather reliable” sources have informed the site that they have seen character designs from Batman v. Superman. These designs were for none other than Doomsday. However, Bleeding Cool adds that, “much can change in the production process. This may be used purely for flashback purposes on the screen, looking at the life (and death) of Superman. It may be purely for promotional efforts to accompany the film. Or it may not make it to the final cut.”
Of course, Doomsday is best known for his role in the “Death of Superman” comic arc, where he and the Man of Steel engaged in a brutal fight to the death. Could we see something similar play out in Dawn of Justice? There has been much speculation that Superman will “die” in this film, leading to a resurrection in the Justice League movie. Also, star Henry Cavill has expressed interest in seeing Doomsday on the big screen at some point. Stay tuned for more news on this as we have it.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters May 6th, 2016. A follow-up to Man of Steel, the second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio.
