DC Movie News Bits: More BATMAN V SUPERMAN Details, Another THRONE OF ATLANTIS Clip, Jai Courtney Training For SUICIDE SQUAD

After the release of a clip yesterday, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has debuted a third snippet from the anticipated animated movie Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, which serves as a sequel to last year’s Justice League: War. In this clip from the New 52 adaptation, Cyborg (Shemar Moore) is under the sea investigating when, suddenly, he is attacked by unknown assailants. Watch the minute-long snippet below, and stay tuned for more as we have it. Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will be available on home video on January 27th.

After a slew of roles in blockbuster tentpoles such as Divergent and the upcoming Terminator: Genisys, Jai Courtney is making his entry into the comic book movie genre with the role of Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad. While we don’t know anything else about this iteration of Digger Harkness, Courtney is currently (and unsurprisingly) hard at work to up his physicality. Writer-director David Ayer tweeted the following BTS shot, which shows Courtney training for his role. It’s not particularly revealing, but it’s always cool to see the director of a major movie give a peek behind-the-scenes. Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters August 5th, 2016.

Finally, we have some more details on what to expect in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Yesterday, a ridiculous “rumor” was spawned by an image which claimed that the movie would be split into two parts, with the first releasing in October. There are a number of reasons explaining why this is false, but during its article covering the possibility, Badass Digest revealed some possible details on the action in Batman v Superman, as well as Cyborg’s role. [Warning: Potential SPOILERS Ahead]
According to the site – which claims to be familiar with the script – the highly anticipated fight between Batman and Superman occurs about halfway into the film, but it apparently isn’t a “huge” battle. Also, the Dark Knight’s presence in the first half isn’t strong enough to warrant splitting it into its own movie with the subtitle Enter The Knight. Additionally, while it hasn’t been confirmed officially, Doomsday looks to be the secondary villain of Dawn of Justice. The antagonist will apparently fight Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in both Metropolis AND Gotham, with the second half of the movie said to be very heavy in action. There has been much concern over the number of characters and concepts being introduced in Batman v Superman, but Badass Digest calls the story “streamlined.”
One of these new characters is Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher. In Dawn of Justice, Victor Stone only shares screentime with Batman, who apparently assembles the Justice League at the very end of the film. And as previously reported, Fisher will only make a cameo in this movie, before having his role expanded in both parts of Justice League and his own 2020 Cyborg film.
While this all sounds plausible, we should take this info with a pinch of salt for now. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit theaters March 25th, 2016.
