Claire Holt Testing For SUPERGIRL Role On CBS Series
A few weeks ago, CBS sent out a casting call for characters in Supergirl, the latest DC Comics adaptation for television. And now, we finally have our first candidate for the role of Superman’s iconic cousin. According to The Wrap, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals‘ Claire Holt is one of the actresses in contention for the titular superheroine, aka Kara Zor-El. The other actresses are not named in the report, and it is unknown whether or not Holt is the frontrunner at this stage. The series is being written and executive produced by Ali Adler and Arrow and The Flash‘s Greg Berlanti.
In Supergirl, Kara Zor-El has been hiding her powers from the world following her escape from the destruction of Krypton. However, at age 24, Kara decides to embrace her powers and become a hero. The show has a series commitment at CBS. Iconic Superman supporting characters such as Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant and Hank Henshaw are also being cast for the series. Hopefully, an official announcement will be made sooner than later.
Supergirl is expected to premiere on CBS sometime in 2015.
