DC Films’ Birds of Prey is moving full steam ahead, with production set to start in January. The film will unite Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn with new female DC characters, which may include Batgirl and Huntress. The movie is targeting an R-rating and will have a smaller budget too. Now, we have some more details.
Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, Margot Robbie says that the goal is for Birds of Prey to focus on a diverse team of characters. “…real life isn’t so one specific image. We’ve got to reflect that onscreen.” Robbie has been adamant about properly depicting a girl gang on film, so having a diverse group is a step in the right direction.
Also, as usual with big comic book movies, Harley Quinn will be getting at least one new costume in the movie. “No, honestly [it’s] because the costumes haven’t been designed yet but yes she’ll have new looks. There will be new Halloween costumes out there, one day.” Harley had a couple different looks in Suicide Squad; we even saw the classic jester outfit for a few seconds. It’ll be interesting to see what new looks we’ll see in Birds of Prey.
