Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey movie has been the next DC title to head towards production. The film will see Harley Quinn team up with a slew of female characters from the DC Universe. And sure enough, the ensemble is next up on the slate, as Warner Bros. has confirmed its release date. The (currently untitled) movie is set to hit theaters on February 7th, 2020. Recently, it was revealed that Marvel Studios is developing shows for Disney Play, the studio’s forthcoming streaming service. HBO Orders WATCHMEN to Series, Sets 2019 Premiere
After years in development, HBO’s Watchmen pilot finally went into production a few months ago. Now, we know when the pilot – and the rest of the season – will premiere. HBO has confirmed that Watchmen has been given a full series order. It will premiere sometime in 2019. No word on an episode count yet. In addition, the network released a plot logline from the series. Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own. KINGSMAN 3 Gets a Release Date
Following the first two Kingsman movies, director Matthew Vaughn confirmed that he would return for a third film, while two spinoff movies and a television show are in development. Now, we know when the trilogy’s final installment will hit theaters. 20th Century Fox has set a release date of November 8th, 2019 for Kingsman 3. This was the original release date for Bond 25, which recently moved to Valentines Day 2020. It’s also one week after DC’s Wonder Woman 1984. HARLEY QUINN/JOKER Directors Offer Script Update for “Deranged” Relationship Movie
Warner Bros. previously put several Harley Quinn-centric films into development. One of these was a film pairing her with Jared Leto’s Joker, to be written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. We haven’t heard too much on this one in a while, especially with Birds of Prey being the studio’s top priority. But now, the filmmakers have provided an update. Marvel’s THE ETERNALS Recruits Director Chloe Zhao
The Eternals is one of several Marvel Studios movies in development, making up its post-Avengers 4 future. The film previously got a pair of screenwriters, and now, a director has been brought on board. Filmmaker Chloe Zhao (The Rider) has signed on to direct The Eternals. Other contenders for the job included Nicole Kassell (HBO’s Watchmen), Travis Knight (Bumblebee), and Cristina Gallego & Ciro Guerra (Birds of Passage). We have a couple of big DC TV casting updates. DC Universe has found the titular hero of its next original series, while this year’s Arrowverse crossover now has a villain. The Goldbergs actress Brec Bassinger is set to star as Courtney Whitmore in Stargirl, a new show on DC Universe. The series revolves around Whitmore, a high school sophomore who is adjusting to a new school in Blue Valley, Nebraska. DAREDEVIL Season 3 Gets a Premiere Date and Teaser
Netflix has begun promotion for the third season of Marvel’s Daredevil. Today, the network released a new teaser, and it reveals the season’s premiere date. Thankfully, it’ll be here much sooner than expected. Daredevil season three will be available on Friday, October 19th. This marks a little over a month after the last Marvel Netflix installment, Iron Fist season two, making it the shortest time span in between seasons.
