Comic Review: ANT-MAN Volume 1: Second-Chance Man
In the comics, Scott Lang was always in the shadow of Hank Pym as Ant-Man. He has a history in prison, his divorce complicates his relationship with his daughter Cassie, and he was even dead for a while. But you can’t keep a good Ant down. Back in 2015, when the first Ant-Man movie came out, Marvel relaunched the character’s comic book series, putting Scott back into the spotlight, courtesy of writer Nick Spencer. And overall, it’s a successful attempt to revive Scott Lang…literally. “Second-Chance Man” is the first volume of this run, collecting issues 1-5, and it does a solid job of re-establishing Scott and his place in the…

Pilot Episode Review: DRAGON BALL HEROES
Time for another pilot review. This time it’s about the awaited Dragon Ball Heroes. The episode starts with Son Goku and Vegeta training as always. When their training gets interrupted by Mai, who brings the news of Trunks is captured. Faster then someone says anime, Goku, and Vegeta fly away to save him. Dragon Ball Heroes is a spin-off series that has arrived after the success of Dragon Ball Super. The reason for “spinoff” is because it’s not meant to be “canon” for the Dragon Ball lore. It exists to make a commercial for the card game by the same name (and that’s the problem). Yes, a show that purely…

Retrospective Review: ARROW Season 1
Arrow Season 1 follows rescued billionaire and playboy extraordinaire Oliver Queen(Stephen Amell) as he tries to reintegrate into high society after being shipwrecked for five years on an island. Upon his return to Starling City, he reunites with his family, mother, Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson), and his sister, Thea Queen (Willa Holland), and his friends, Tommy Merlyn (Colin Donnell) and Laurel Lance(Katie Cassidy) (she’s the ex-girlfriend btw). Oliver works to get his relationships back, but also works at hunting down and killing criminals as the vigilante “The Hood”. He uncovers Malcolm Merlyn’s (John Barrowman) conspiracy to destroy The Glades, a poorer section of the city that has become overridden with…

Review: Eden’s Zero Chapter One
Just like how some write reviews of pilot episodes, I might as well “review” a pilot chapter. And the honor of this pilot review for pilot chapters goes to none other than Eden’s Zero, the latest manga from Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima. This chapter starts off on what looks like an island inhabited by robots. Among those robots is a boy named Shiki. Shiki’s world turns upside down when a girl named Rebeca and her walking talking cat Happy enter the picture. When Hiro Mashima, the creator of Fairy Tail, announced that he was doing a new series, I got quite intrigued. I am a fan of Fairy Tail…

Review: LUKE CAGE Season 2
Sweet Christmas. Binge-watching 3 entire seasons of Netflix takes far longer then you might expect. It’s not like a 12 episode anime that usually takes about half a day. Luckily for me though, I had a lot of coffee to help me through it all. Before I talk about the second season of Luke Cage, let me give you a brief rundown of what I think of the first season. The first season is a mixed bag. It’s like a team of soccer players did a fantastic job out on the field, but for some reason or another loses focus on the second half game. It’s almost to the point…

I Lost a Bet and Had to Watch BATMAN AND HARLEY QUINN. Hold Me While I Sob…
Have you ever made a bet? That intuition fueled guessing game that delivers the instant satisfaction of being right, or makes you fall flat on your face? I don’t make bets often; but when I do, they’re always with a purpose. In this particular instance, I made a bet with fellow WOBAM contributor Isak Wolff: if Son Goku was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he had to review the John Goodman-starring Myst parody, PYST; if Son Goku wasn’t announced for Smash Bros., then I had to review Batman and Harley Quinn. You can guess who lost that bet. When WOBAM’s’s very own Paul Romano reviewed Batman and Harley Quinn,…

Review: BATMAN: THE ENEMY WITHIN
In season two to of Batman: The Telltale Series we battle against the likes of the Riddler, Bane, Harley Quinn and Amanda Waller. We continue to see Bruce Wayne’s struggle with his duality. Is this game as good as it’s predecessor or does it fall flat? Well, let’s find out. We pick up not too long after the events of the first game. The Riddler, Gotham’s biggest criminal, has returned with a vengeance. Batman along with the help of Commissioner Gordon try to take down Riddler but are unsuccessful. This leads to Waller and her agents joining the fight. We also dive into more of John’s story. With the emergence of Harley…

ARROW SEASON 6 Review
In the second half of Arrow season 6 (check out our mid-season review here), Team Arrow has an all-out Civil War. Cayden James is not the main villain as we previously thought. In a surprise twist, Ricardo Diaz rises to the forefront. Oliver loses his team’s trust (again), all while dealing with his impending impeachment. Arrow season 6 was a rollercoaster ride, but was it enjoyable? With Diaz taking over as head of the league of villains, we once again have an enemy that can go toe-to-toe with the Green Arrow. Oliver has decided to do this job solo after a huge (and a little contrived) falling-out with the team, including…

REVIEW: DC Meets Looney Tunes
When you think crossovers, you don’t generally think “Batman and Elmer Fudd duking it out.” But sometimes the unexpected arrives, and this time it truly delivered. “DC Meets Looney Tunes” (published February 14, 2018, 248 pages) is an anthology book containing the original crossover run from 2017, collecting Legion of Super-Heroes/Bugs Bunny Special #1, Martian Manhunter/Marvin The Martian Special #1, Wonder Woman/Tasmanian Devil Special #1, Lobo/Road Runner Special #1, Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam Special #1, and Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1. Each crossover story updates the Looney Tunes characters and injects them into the DC Universe. The Tasmanian Devil becomes a monster lurking inside the Greek Labyrinth. Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn are…
