THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Director Teases Plans for a Sequel
The LEGO Batman Movie was a hit when it came out last year, following up on the brick-tacular success of The LEGO Movie and expanding its cinematic universe. Now, it looks like a sequel is in development.
Director Chris McKay confirmed on Twitter that they are now “working on” a second LEGO Batman Movie. He then points to the character’s return in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part next year while we wait.
We are working on that rn actually! In the meantime LEGO Batman is all over LEGO 2 coming in February.— Chris McKay (@buddboetticher) December 5, 2018
Details about The LEGO Batman Movie 2 beyond that are unknown. Since the first film’s release, McKay was hired to direct DC’s Nightwing movie and other films. So, it’s unclear where LEGO Batman 2 will fit into his schedule. But, stay tuned for more news as we have it.
In the meantime, LEGO Batman will return in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, in theaters February 8th.
