DC Universe Details Announced; Will Include Older Movies and TV Shows, Comics and More
DC Entertainment has finally shared some details on its upcoming streaming service, DC Universe. And based on the announcement, it sounds like a must for any DC fan. DC Universe will be anchored by original shows, beginning with this year’s Titans. 2019 will see the arrivals of four more shows – Young Justice: Outsiders, Harley Quinn, Swamp Thing, and Doom Patrol. But in addition to the originals, DC Universe will feature the company’s older movies and television shows, both live action and animated. President Diane Nelson Leaving DC Entertainment and Warner Bros.
A few months ago, Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, took an unexpected leave of absence. She cited family-related issues for her break. Now, however, it looks like her break will be a permanent one. It has been announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Diane Nelson is leaving Warner Bros. and DC, after more than 20 years of working with the studio. Nelson joined DC as president in 2009, playing a critical role in bringing the company’s film, TV, and video game divisions closer together, and on the same page with WB. LEGO DC SUPER-VILLAINS Video Game Announced
It was previously reported that a LEGO video game starring DC villains is in the works. And now, it has been announced. TT Games and LEGO have formally announced their latest collaboration, LEGO DC Super-Villains. The open-world game puts the spotlight on the DC Universe’s greatest villains, from Joker and Lex Luthor to Reverse-Flash and Deathstroke. In this story, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth in the hands of the mysterious Justice Syndicate. DC’s next animated title is The Death of Superman, the latest adaptation of the Man of Steel’s deadliest battle in comics. Today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment confirmed that the movie hits digital stores on July 24th, with the Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K releases arriving on August 7th. DC Announces Streaming Service Title, Adds SWAMP THING Series to Slate
DC Entertainment has announced some preliminary details on its streaming service, which will include a slew of exclusive original shows. The service is called DC Universe, and it promises to be the “ultimate” membership for DC fans. Called a unique digital experience, DC Universe will give fans unlimited access to its original shows. So far, the shows include the live action Titans and the animated shows Young Justice: Outsiders and Harley Quinn. And now, DC has announced a fourth title: Swamp Thing.
