FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×17- “Time Bomb”
The Flash (5×17)- “Time Bomb” Written by: Kristen Kim & Sterling Gates Directed by: Rob Greenlea So when we left off things weren’t looking good for our heroes. Orlin had taken the cure but the adult Grace had come from the future to take up his mantle and it seems just not only more powerful but a little crazy to boot. I don’t see how things could get much worse… Just kidding! They’re getting worse by the minute because Nora can’t get any more help from Thawne in the future so she has to tell her father what they’ve been doing. Of course she can’t just tell Barry because what…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×16- “Failure is an Orphan”
The Flash (5×16)- “Failure is An Orphan” Written by: Zack Stentz Directed by: Viet Nguyen After back to back weeks of filler episodes I guess we all should have expected for them to throw everything into disarray with a big change episode. But is it good change or bad change? Let’s see if we can unpack this. In 2049, Thawne has about twenty minutes left before he’s put to death and it seems that he and Nora are on the brink of something with their plan to stop Cicada as the Timeline is in flux around Barry’s last confrontation with Cicada. So the pair have to make the confrontation happen…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×15- “King Shark vs Gorilla Grodd”
The Flash (5×15)- “King Shark vs Gorilla Grodd” Written by: Eric Wallace & Lauren Certo Directed by: Stefan Pleszczynski Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat: This was another filler episode. However, we should all be aware of that by now considering the cost prohibitive nature of Gorilla Grodd episodes. A CGI Gorilla just can’t be a big part of this series with the budget restraints of having this show on the CW, no matter how much I’d like him to be. But I have to give credit to the producers; every time they bring Grodd in it’s as a big deal. They also do a…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×14- “Cause and XS”
The Flash (5×14)- “Cause and XS” Written by: Todd Helbing & Jeff Hersh Directed by: Rachel Talalay With new episodes coming up this week, I better take time out of my busy schedule to review the last episode. Cause and XS! continues this strange Flash tradition of putting out holiday episodes a week after the holiday… This time they’re celebrating Groundhog’s Day not with a prognosticating rodent but with a time loop. Of course, the time loop isn’t just a staple of Bill Murray movies. It’s a sci-fi staple going way back with shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Stargate SG-1 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer all throwing their…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×13- “Goldfaced”
The Flash (5×13)- “Goldfaced” Written by: Jonathan Butler & Gabriel Garza Directed by: Alexandra La Roche “Goldface…” Well there’s worse names that start with Gold. Were you expecting someone else? Let’s cut to the chase, we have ourselves a very interesting theme for this week’s episode: Characters being manipulated into doing something ill-advised through the manipulation of their egos: Even though the episode is named after another plotline, the big story of this week’s episode is that Sherloque is on the brink of discovering that Nora came back from the future to stop Cicada. You’d think this would be fine with Barry, “Hey thanks Nora for stopping this serial killer…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×12- “Memorabilia”
The Flash (5×12)- “Memorabilia” Written by: Sam Chalsen & Kristen Kim Directed by: Rebecca Johnson So we go from an episode with a title that plays on a popular film series to one that is nearly a triple entendre (Seeing Red because the Flash wears red, it’s slang for going mad with rage and a nod to the Emotional Spectrum) to an episode that when doing a title search tricks you into looking at Flash March. These people are sneaky. We open with Nora explaining to Eobard (and the audience via Voiceover) the mounting frustration she feels hiding whatever she and he are trying to accomplish with her trek through…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×11- “Seeing Red”
The Flash (5×11)- “Seeing Red” Written by: Judalina Neira & Thomas Pound Directed by: Marcus Stokes From “The Flash and the Furious” to “Seeing Red.” Interesting progression. We open on Cicada and the anti-meta-human movement seems to be gaining steam. Someone in the CCPD leaked names and addresses of metas to his doctor friend and this lets him knock off a lot of metas in quick succession which brings Team Flash running and that’s where things go haywire when Cicada breaks Nora’s back. This episode kind of reminds people that while Barry is so packed full of Hope he could easily replace Adara as the embodiment of Hope in the…

THE FLASH SPOILER Review: S5 E6- “The Icicle Cometh”
The Flash S5 E6- “The Icicle Cometh” Written by: Kristen Kim & Joshua V Gilbert Directed by: Chris Peppe Watching this episode I realized a few things; One: I must have watched this episode when I first came back from Japan to catch up because this was the déjà vu hour. Two: Not a lot happened because I actually smashed most of what happened in this episode in the following episode. Three: It’s time to put a name to episodes like this because while not a whole lot happened a lot of plot points for the overall season were kind of brought closer to the surface. First there was Caitlin…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×10- “The Flash and the Furious”
The Flash (5×10)- “The Flash and the Furious” Written by: Kelly Wheeler & Sterling Gates Directed by: David McWhirter Alright! The second half of Season five kicks off with a title I am genuinely surprised they didn’t use earlier. (It’s like how both the Bruce Timm Batman cartoon and “The Batman” reworked Batman film titles for Batgirl episodes, you just know the next Batman cartoon will have an episode called “Batgirl v Superman” at some point.) The episode opens pretty much where we left off in the 100th episode with Nora in the future talking with Eobard Thawne still looking like Wells. (They’ll have to explain that soon enough.) We…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×05- “All Doll’d Up”
The Flash (5×05)- “All Doll’d Up” Written by: Tony Pound & Sterling Gates Directed by: Philip Chipera Well what a time. I’ve been without a computer for pretty much the whole winter break and without a computer I can’t write reviews. (I have a phone but I’m not tapping out a review on that with my old man hands.) So, in short my big plan to clean up the episodes I missed was pretty much nuked and it’s scramble time. Anyways… For once those “Previously on the Flash…” Montages helped me out to remind of exactly what’s been going on going into this episode because I wasn’t watching too closely…
