Netflix’s THE LAST AIRBENDER – Can It Work?
So, I finally have an excuse to write about Avatar: The Last Airbender (I’ve waited 84 years). With Netflix reviving the hit Nickelodeon series, we have to ask the obvious questions, will it work and do we even need it? Well, let’s sort this thing out. Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated series that ran on Nickelodeon from 2005-2008. Set in a mystical world where different nations can bend the four natural elements to their will (water, earth, fire, and air), Aang (the last Airbender), has to become the avatar, master of all four elements and bring balance to both the mortal and spiritual worlds. Avatar: The Last Airbender…

OPINION: The Return of Palpatine and the Issue With The Star Wars Sequels
Star Wars is one of the biggest franchises in history. The original trilogy changed the way we view cinema; the prequel trilogy laid the groundwork for modern CGI and the sequel trilogy? Well, we’ll have to wait and see what their legacy will be. One thing for sure, they need to let the past die. Under Disney, the franchise seems to cling onto the past in hopes of keeping older fans on board, and it’s killing the franchise. It all starts with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first film in the new franchise. Now, the film is a solid introduction to the world post Return of the Jedi. Still,…

SHAZAM! Wows in Latest Trailer
Shazam! continues to impress with it’s latest trailer. The next DC flick features Billy Batson’s big screen debut as be battles against the evil Doctor Sivana. Check out the Shazam trailer down below! We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still, a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them!…

Review: MARVEL RISING: SECRET WARRIORS – A Lazy and Uninspired Mess
The idea of an animated Secret Warriors film was promising. Young heroes like Ms. Marvel, Patriot, Squirrel Girl and Quake taking on an Inhuman war sounds excellent! The execution left a lot to be desired. Here’s our review of Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. The story is pretty bland. Ms. Marvel (Kathreen Khavari) aspires to be like Captain Marvel (Kim Raver). Her and Squirrel Girl (Milana Vayntrub) are up and coming superheroes. They meet two inhumans who are fighting each other. Dante (Tyler Posey), a young man who just got his powers, and Exile (Booboo Stewart), a Kree warrior who wants to “deliver” inhumans. Our to heroines get involved, as well…

RUMOR: Armie Hammer is Our Next BATMAN *UPDATED*
UPDATE 2/19/19: Yahoo! UK contributor Hanna Flint asked Armie Hammer during an interview if he had been approached for the job of Batman. He said he has not been approached by anyone who can actually give him the job, and has not been asked for his availability. ORIGINAL STORY All things considered, we didn’t have to wait too long. After Ben Affleck offically left the role of the Caped Crusader, speculation as to who would wear the tights have run ramped. Thankfully, we can put our think pieces to rest (even though they were fantastic). Our friends over at Revenge of the Fans have got the scoop on who will…

Review: WONDER TWINS No. 1 – Wonder Twin Powers: Activate?
The Wonder Twins have been apart of the DC Universe for decades. Their most notable run was during the Super Friends in the 1970s. Now, they’ve made their return to the world of comics with their own series. Wonder Twins No. 1 is a crazy, weird, and fun time! Jayna and Zan are from the planet Exxor. The twin teens have been banished from their homeworld. Why? We don’t know exactly. However, we do know that Superman feels the need to give them a home. So, he enrolls them into high school and introduces them to the Justice League. The two need to adjust to life on earth while dealing with…

Review: ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL – Tons of Heart But Not Much Else
Alita: Battle Angel is about a young cyborg girl who lost her memory. The film is about her discovering who she is. With the help of her friends, she realizes that she is the key to saving the world. Rosa Salazar stars as the titular character. She’s able to play this warm and innocent girl, but in an instant turn into an unbeatable fighting machine. The entire cast does well with what they’re given. Christoph Waltz (Dr. Dyson), Jennifer Connelly (Chiren), Mahershala Ali (Vector) and deliver solid performances. However, I wish there were given better material to work with. Narrative-wise the film is a bit of a mess. It lacks…

Recap: ARROW S7 E13 – “Star City Slayer”
Coming off of the stellar milestone episode last week, things get darker in this episode. Oliver is trying to mend his relationship with William, but things don’t seem to be progressing. William is a kid who’s been kidnapped, drugged, and attacked by a mob boss. He’s lived a rough life, and it all started when he met Oliver. The family drama keeps Oliver from suiting up the entire episode. The chemistry between Stephen Amell (Oliver), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity), and Jack Moore (William) is so strong. It really makes these scenes worth it. While Ollie is dealing with his son, the rest of the gang take on the Star City…

Recap: ARROW S7 E12 – “Emerald Archer”
If you told me that Arrow’s 150th episode would take inspiration from The Office, I would’ve have thought you were crazy. Yet here we are. Emerald Archer takes a look back at Arrow’s long history. Paying tribute to our favorite hooded vigilante hero. The episode doesn’t start with Stephen Amell’s usual: “previously on Arrow.” Instead, we are treated to the classic Warner Bros. fanfare Follow by a special intro for the episode. Narrated by Kelsey Grammer, we see interviews and clips from people who worked with Team Arrow. Quinton Lance, Thea Queen, Sara Lance, Rory (Ragman), Ricardo Diaz, Cindy Simone, and even Barry Allen are interviewed for the special. Oliver’s legacy…
