VENOM Gets a PG-13 Rating and Eyes a New October Record
We are Venom and so are you! We’re just a short three weeks away from Venom infecting the cinema, and it’s pretty good news all around. First up, the MPAA has officially given Venom a PG-13 rating. AMC lists the film’s runtime at 1 hour 52 minutes, putting it right at a comfortable spot that shouldn’t overstay its welcome. Elsewhere, the Sony spin-off appears to be one for the record books. Updated tracking puts Venom in the $60-70 million opening weekend range, which would set a new October record. The current record holder is Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, which bowed at $55.7 million in 2013. Venom is positioned as the first…

FEATURE: The Decline of The Movie Star is a Loss For Us All
If recent news is to be believed, Henry Cavill is out as the Man of Steel. If yesterday’s report from TMZ is to be believed, that story is a nothingburger. Whichever is the case, we find ourselves with a British mustachio who’s rising star has seen considerable box office success in 2018. Henry Cavill, the 35 year old at the center of this story, has been on a rocky journey since taking the Superman role. When Man of Steel premiered in 2013, audiences were firmly split on his brooding take with a sharpened edge. As Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice barreled forward in 2016, hopes were high that director…

SONG REVIEW: “Venom” by Eminem
It isn’t too often that Marshall Mathers drops a new sick beat. But these are uncommon times, and uncommon times call for uncommon measures. Take Sony’s latest motion picture: Venom, starring Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, Star Trek: Nemesis) and Riz Ahmed (“Rogue One? Rogue One.”). Venom is a pretty good what if: What if Venom existed separate from Spider-Man? What if Venom was sorta-kinda-maybe in the MCU but also definitely-maybe-sorta not? And today, we have another what if to ask: What if Eminem contributed a song to a superhero film? Wonder no more, ladies and gents, for Slim Shady’s “Venom” has arrived. “Venom” is a pretty good movie…

Movie News Bits: Valiant Comics
Welcome back to another edition of Movie News Bits! Today, we’re talking about Valiant Comics! First up, we have some news that Sony is developing a Faith superhero movie. The “Faith” comics center around a regular geeky teenager named Faith Herbert, who’s obsessed with comics and science fiction, and has the powers of telekinesis and flight. Lamorne Morris has been cast in Bloodshot, for the role of Wilfred Wigans! Wigans is a young scientist, who becomes Bloodshot’s unlikely ally. Morris joins Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, Alex Hernandez, and Toby Kebbell. Dave Wilson is attached to currently direct, and if Bloodshot makes it past the first film, Morris is supposedly still attached to the series for two more films. Johannes Haukur…

FEATURE: Why Goku and Superman Aren’t The Same
Greetings, WOBAMers! Here’s the sitch: I was supposed to have a Story Bake collab video ready to go for you faithful audience members. And… it almost is. But life happened. And when life happens, video editing can’t happen. So hang tight: that video is still on the way faster than you can go Super Sayan. But I didn’t wanna leave you hanging for our 7 Days of Shonen Jump. One of the things in my upcoming video that I touch upon is the idea among fandom that Goku and Superman are the same character with a different coat of paint. On the surface, there’s some merit to this idea: they’re both…

REVIEW: BATMAN VS. TWO-FACE
The Adam West Batman series ranks among my favorite Batman outings. I understand why many people prefer the more serious takes on Bruce Wayne, but I’ve always loved the fun rock’em sock’em good time of Batman ’66. When DC announced the animated revival, I was pumped. And that film was plenty amazing. But then they had to go and announce a sequel. And not just any sequel, but a sequel with WILLIAM FREAKIN’ SHATNER as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Heck YEAH I was pumped for that. And guess what: the movie delivers. Adam West’s final appearance excels as a statement of what it means to be a hero and a swan song…

FEATURE: Why Scarlet Witch and Vision Deserve a Team-Up Film
This Feature is part of our 7 Days of Ant-Man and The Wasp series, and you can click HERE to read all the posts. – When Wanda Maximoff and The Vision hit the ground running in Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans have been clamoring for them to get more screen time. And in the years since, they have. Sorta. Captain America: Civil War gave them some great moments, and Avengers: Infinity War gave them some bigger moments. But at the end of the day, there’s only so much development you can do in the team up movies. Vision and Scarlet Witch aren’t easy supporting characters the way Black Widow or Hawkeye are;…

BLOODSHOT Picks Up a Villainous Toby Kebbell
It’s just another day for the Bloodshot news train, as the Valiant Entertainment film picks up steam on its way to a 2019 release. Vin Diesel stars as the title character, while Eiza González, Michael Sheen, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley and Alex Hernandez have all joined in supporting roles. And after much anticipation, we finally have some news on our villain. The Wrap reports that actor Toby Kebbell (Warcraft, Fantastic Four, Ben Hur) has joined the cast as “Axe.” Not much is known about this interpretation of the character, but “Ax” (also known as @x) has been a fixture of the Harbinger comics from the earliest days of Valiant. In the original Jim Shooter run…

FEATURE: Why Kenobi: A Star Wars Story on Disney’s Streaming Service is a Good Idea
“Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope!” A galaxy in turmoil, the Star Wars are. In recent days, Lucasfilm has faced steep criticism of The Last Jedi, a box office bomb in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and an uncertain reality, as the House George Built retools future development plans. A rumor recently surfaced that those retooling plans would have a big impact, with the oft-rumored Kenobi: A Star Wars Story potentially being moved to Disney’s new streaming service. Of course, people on social media had a lot to say about this. I don’t understand Lucasfilms, the only Star Wars story movie about Obi-Wan Kenobi is being put on hold because…
