RUMOR: Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi Will Cameo in Episode IX, feature in Spin-Off Film for Disney’s Streaming Service
It’s been a crazy few weeks for the Master of Form III. Hot on the heels of Lucasfilm’s retooling efforts, the internet is alight with fresh rumors about a fan-favorite Jedi Master. The Sun reports that Ewan McGregor will cameo as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode IX. This isn’t the first time such a rumor has run the mill. However, the J.J. Abrams directed film starts principal photography next month, so the timetable for signing McGregor fits with recent reports. McGregor is set to film The Shining sequel, Doctor Sleep, this fall, giving the actor a brief window in the summer to rendezvous with Pinewood. Elsewhere, The Playlist is…

FEATURE: Rotten Tomatoes was WRONG and Netflix’s Live-Action DEATH NOTE Film is Actually Amazing
If you’re reading this on a desktop, the song “Reckless (Don’t Be So…)” by Australian Crawl should have begun to play. If you’re on a mobile device, you’ll have to click the play button to hear those dulcet tones. This song is the opener in Adam Wingard’s Death Note. Wingard has had a productive career, reaching notoriety with the horror films You’re Next, V/H/S, and Blair Witch. He’s also set to direct Godzilla vs. Kong, this October, for a 2020 release date. To say Death Note was in his wheelhouse is an understatement. But the fan reaction to the film was nothing short of toxic. Rotten Tomatoes critics weren’t a…

I Lost a Bet and Had to Watch BATMAN AND HARLEY QUINN. Hold Me While I Sob…
Have you ever made a bet? That intuition fueled guessing game that delivers the instant satisfaction of being right, or makes you fall flat on your face? I don’t make bets often; but when I do, they’re always with a purpose. In this particular instance, I made a bet with fellow WOBAM contributor Isak Wolff: if Son Goku was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he had to review the John Goodman-starring Myst parody, PYST; if Son Goku wasn’t announced for Smash Bros., then I had to review Batman and Harley Quinn. You can guess who lost that bet. When WOBAM’s’s very own Paul Romano reviewed Batman and Harley Quinn,…

REVIEW: DC Meets Looney Tunes
When you think crossovers, you don’t generally think “Batman and Elmer Fudd duking it out.” But sometimes the unexpected arrives, and this time it truly delivered. “DC Meets Looney Tunes” (published February 14, 2018, 248 pages) is an anthology book containing the original crossover run from 2017, collecting Legion of Super-Heroes/Bugs Bunny Special #1, Martian Manhunter/Marvin The Martian Special #1, Wonder Woman/Tasmanian Devil Special #1, Lobo/Road Runner Special #1, Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam Special #1, and Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1. FEATURE: The Case for a PG-13 Deadpool
The Deadpool franchise has been a considerable success for 20th Century Fox, succeeding as an R rated franchise where many comic book projects failed. This is largely in part to Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds’ vision for the character, lifting the lovable Merc with a Mouth from Rob Liefeld’s pages and letting him run free in a Fourth Wall-shattering silver screen sandbox. The first film’s $783 million worldwide gross is nothing to turn your nose at: this character connected with a LOT of people. BUT. But. Hear me out, friends: what if Deadpool was a PG-13 franchise? Would that be so bad? Would it hamper the filmmakers’ ability to tell…

This review is part of our 20 Days of Infinity War. Click here to for more WOBAM awesome. – The sailor said “Brandy, you’re a fine girl (you’re a fine girl) What a good wife you would be (such a fine girl) Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea” The first Guardians of the Galaxy came out of Knowhere (Someday I will stop recycling that line, but that day isn’t today).
