SUPERMAN: RED SON Animated Movie in Development
Our pal Mario at Revenge of the Fans is back again with another big DC animated scoop. He recently shared the voice cast for Batman: Hush, and he revealed that a two-part Batman: The Long Halloween is in the works. Now, a film based on an iconic Superman story is happening. Superman: Red Son will be the next DC Elseworlds tale to get the animated treatment. There has been a lot of interest in adapting this story, including from producer Bruce Timm, and now it’s moving forward. Red Son is an alternative take on Superman’s origin, where his pod lands in the USSR rather than Kansas. In addition, Mario has…

JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. THE FATAL FIVE Sets its Voice Cast
Following Reign of the Supermen, DC is bringing in Justice League vs. The Fatal Five, which pits the superhero team against an obscure group of supervillains. The animated film’s voice cast has been announced, and there are plenty of familiar faces….er, voices. Kevin Conroy, George Newbern, and Susan Eisenberg reprise their roles as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The trio voiced the characters in the beloved Justice League/Justice League Unlimited animated shows. They have reprised the roles in many mediums since then. Next up, Doom Patrol star Diane Guerrero will play Green Lantern Jessica Cruz. The Fatal Five consists of Peter Jessop as Thorak, Tom Kenny as Bloodsport, Matthew Yang King as…

SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Wins Golden Globe for Best Animated Movie
The 2019 Golden Globes took place last night, as a precursor to next month’s Academy Awards. At the event, one of 2018’s most acclaimed superhero movies took home a top prize. Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won for Best Animated Motion Picture, beating competitors like Incredibles 2 and Isle of Dogs. This is the latest accolade for the film, which has earned rave reviews and solid box office results. Will the movie repeat at the Oscars next month? Let’s hope so. In other news, Marvel’s Black Panther was nominated for a few categories, including the coveted Best Motion Picture – Drama. However, the film was snubbed completely, with the top…

Why Mera was Needed in the DC Universe
There are plenty of female heroes in the world of DC, such as Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, and the Batwomen. And all of those heroes are phenomenal in their right. I love DC with all my heart and soul, flaws and all. To tell a story properly, a film must fill out the character with a backstory. Otherwise, they remain hollow, empty and unendearing. That was an extreme problem with Justice League. The film didn’t have time to flesh out all of its wonderful characters. It is tough to accomplish such a story with an ensemble cast and relegate the “whys,” and the ”hows” into short interludes, giving the bare…

Review: AQUAMAN (2018)
“The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.” Warner Brothers You might remember when the reporters called the Aquaman footage they saw earlier as Indiana Jones meet Star Wars? Well, I can safely say now after watching it that I think their parable is pretty much a bullseye. It’s a thrilling ride in more than just one way. It’s action-packed, making you sit on the edge of your seat, while also…

Review: THE INCREDIBLES
In this movie, we follow the Parr’s, a family of five where everyone has superpowers. Both Bob (Craig T. Nelson) and Helen Parr (Holy Hunter) are former superheroes that have now retired their heroic lifestyle. However, one day, their life changes when Bob aka Mr. Incredible gets a mysterious job offer. As someone that doesn’t have the same nostalgic connection to this movie, this was an interesting rewatch. How does it stand today, 14 years after it’s release? While it shows in its script that it was something that was created and released in the early 2000’s, with the animation quality a bit dated, it’s still a good movie. However, I…

Review: BIG HERO 6
Back in 2014, Walt Disney Animation Studios was hot off their 2013 mega-hit Frozen, a film so huge that it is still fresh inside our heads today. So there was a lot of curiosity surrounding the next film from the famed animated studio entitled Big Hero 6. The film is loosely based around a little-known Marvel comic that debuted in 1998, but not even massive Marvel comics fan were that familiar with the characters. Sometimes taking a lot of liberties with your source material can go south extremely fast, but often times it can benefit big time. That’s the case with Big Hero 6. The film follows 14-year-old child prodigy…

DC’s Zatanna Might Get Her Own Movie Too
Another day, another DC movie that Warner Bros. apparently has in development. Deadline has published an article detailing the recent increase in female-led superhero movies and TV shows, including those by DC. In the article, it is mentioned that there is “talk” of a movie starring Zatanna, in addition to Batgirl, Supergirl, and more. No other details, including a screenwriter or director, are known at this time. Zatanna is one of the most prominent magical characters in the DC Universe. She has been a frequent face in animated projects, but besides Smallville, she has never been portrayed in live action. She was said to be part of the Justice League…

Opinion: Why the DAREDEVIL Movie is Better than the DAREDEVIL TV Show
Hello! You’re here! Welcome to this hot take. I know there’s multiple opinions on this topic, and I’m in the very tiny minority. If you listened to our Daredevil Podcast, you got a small glimpse of this argument, and if you haven’t listened, you should! But here goes nothing! Why the Daredevil movie is better than the Daredevil TV show. Ah Daredevil. Highly controversial, this movie isn’t one of the best. But it isn’t one of the worst. I really enjoyed Jennifer Gardner‘s portrayal of Elektra, she gave the role some sexiness, bad***ery that it desperately needed. The plot was terrible, but I actually enjoyed the script. Writing can be good…
