NIGHTWING Director Praises Warner Bros.’ Filmmaker-Driven Approach and Discusses Building the DCEU
Following the success of Man of Steel in 2013, Warner Bros. began the process of building a cinematic universe based on DC Comics. So far, the DC Extended Universe has released four movies, with many more on the way. One of these films is Nightwing, which finally puts the spotlight on Dick Grayson. There has also been a lot of talk about WB’s “director-driven” approach to the DCEU. Some argue that these films aren’t all that focused on the director’s vision, especially with Suicide Squad‘s David Ayer. However, we also have Patty Jenkins having creative control on Wonder Woman, while established filmmakers like Matt Reeves and James Wan are making…

Darren Aronofsky Compares His BATMAN Movie Pitch to Warner Bros.’ Joker Origin Film
After the failure of 1997’s Batman and Robin, Warner Bros. explored multiple options on how to relaunch the franchise. One idea was director Darren Aronofsky’s pitch for a Batman: Year One adaptation, which he wrote with Frank Miller. This story would have been extremely different from your traditional Batman tale, and it was a very, very loose adaptation of the Year One comic. It would have also been rated R and “too dark,” so the studio chose to move on. The Year One comic was later adapted into 2005’s reboot Batman Begins. Now, 15 years later, Aronofsky reflects on what his Batman movie would have been like. In an interview…

Collider’s Christina Radish caught up with McKay at The LEGO Ninjago Movie press junket, where he poured out his thoughts on the upcoming project: “I’m a big comic book fan, and being able to do the story of Nightwing, to do a Dick Grayson story, which is a character that every single person in the world knows, but has never really had a lot of screentime. They make a billion Spider-Man movies and a lot of Batman movies, and they’ve tried The Hulk. When they were making…

Earlier this year, director Zack Snyder exited the post-production phase of Justice League to deal with a horrific family tragedy. Joss Whedon has stepped in to oversee reshoots, editing, and more crucial elements in completing the movie. Snyder has also stayed out of the public eye since his exit; he didn’t appear at the film’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, for example. Now, it’s confirmed that Snyder won’t be promoting Justice League this fall.
