Warner Bros. Confirms WONDER WOMAN’s Presence at San Diego Comic-Con; Official Synopsis Released

It was widely expected, and now it’s been confirmed. Warner Bros. has announced that Wonder Woman will be present at its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2016. The panel takes place on Saturday, July 23rd at 11:30 AM.

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will be in attendance, along with stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Connie Nielsen. Additionally, at the DC booth on the convention floor, they will be signing autographs. Costumes from the movie will be on display.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has released an official plot synopsis for Wonder Woman, teasing Diana Prince’s origin story. Also, while Jason Fuchs was previously hired to write the script, the press release says that the screenplay was written by Geoff Johns and Allan Heinberg. The latter shares story credit with Zack Snyder. Check out all of the details below.

Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Joining Gadot in the international cast are Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston. The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, Wonder Woman. The film is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.


In other SDCC news, Warner Bros. confirmed that The LEGO Batman Movie star Will Arnett and director Chris McKay will attend the studio’s panel. In the LEGO booth, they will be signing autographs and will be at the “Selfie Booth.” Additionally, there is a “building zone” activation where fans help Master Builders assemble life-sized versions of LEGO Batman, Batgirl and Joker, based on their appearances in the film. Plus, the DC booth will have a life-sized LEGO Batman.

And finally, we have Suicide Squad. Writer-director David Ayer will attend WB’s panel, along with stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Scott Eastwood, Cara Delevingne, Adam Beach and Karen Fukuhara. They will later join DC’s booth for autograph signing.
