After years of development, DC’s greatest heroes finally join forces in Justice League, which hits theaters next week. There have been some hurdles to overcome in order to bring these characters to the big screen, and a new Wall Street Journal piece breaks them down. According to WSJ, the production budget for Justice League is close to $300 million. This is the number after the extra money spent on reshoots, and it does not include marketing and other costs. Simply put, that is a staggering amount of money to spend on any movie, superhero or otherwise. And it means that the film has to make a LOT of money in order…

With Steppenwolf headlining the DCEU’s latest outing, it gives us some ideas for how the filmmakers might take things in the future. With that in mind, here’s 5 potential villains the Watctower Crew would love to see in the sequel. Brainiac For all his claim fame, Brainiac, one of Superman’s greatest foes, is not well known outside of comic fandom. He’s never appeared in a live-action film, which means there’s a ripe opportunity to develop and introduce the jade android to audiences the world over.…

Review: JUSTICE LEAGUE DOOM
Justice League Doom is a direct-to-DVD movie loosely based on the comic, JLA: Tower of Babel. The story is about the Legion of Doom stealing Batman’s contingencies plans to take down the League. Can Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Cyborg stop them? Of Course, I’m not going to spoil that, but we can talk about everything else! Justice League Doom feels like a spiritual successor to Justice League the animated series. That could be because it has the same voice cast, or the same voice director, or the fact that the same people produce it. It feels like an adventure that took place before…

Now that the film has hit North America, it is earning a thunderous debut. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Ragnarok has grossed an estimated $121 million in its domestic opening weekend. At San Diego Comic-Con this year, it was confirmed that SyFy’s Krypton show will include several DC characters from the present day, despite taking place centuries before Kal-El’s birth. Among these characters is Brainiac, one of Superman’s most iconic villains. Now, that character has been cast, along with the Man of Steel’s great-grandmother. According to Deadline, Da Vinci’s Demons alum Blake Ritson has landed the series regular role of Brainiac on Krypton. Mark Strong in Talks to Play SHAZAM Villain
After years of development, New Line is finally moving forward with DC’s Shazam movie, which will be directed by David Sandberg. Zachary Levi was recently cast as Earth’s Mightiest Mortal, with production expected to begin in February. Now, we have more casting news. According to The Wrap, Mark Strong is in negotiations to play Shazam‘s villain, Dr. Sivana. With Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam moving into his own movie rather than Shazam, fans speculated that we could see Sivana instead, given his long history in the comics. This marks Strong’s latest comic book role, following Sinestro in 2011’s Green Lantern and Merlin in the Kingsman movies. In other news, Variety has learned…

Review: THOR: RAGNAROK
We all know Thor has been the weakest Avenger when it comes to the standalone movies. The first film is solid, the second is mediocre, and the third is, well. Thor: Ragnarok takes the God of Thunder in a completely different direction than his previous outings. At times it feels like a stroke of genius, but at others, it feels a bit forced. Let’s talk about it. The plot is relatively simple. Hela (Cate Blanchett) is an ancient evil that Odin (Anthony Hopkins) locked away. All of this took place before Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) were born. She has returned to seek out revenge and wants to take over…

Review: THE INCREDIBLE HULK (2008)
I was so tempted to write this whole review in a green front, but I’m not sure Paul would like that. Grrrr! Anyway, here we are with my review of 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. After Ang Lee’s Hulk, starring Eric Bana as Bruce Banner/Hulk, failed to do the character justice in 2003, Louis Leterrier (The Transporter, Now You See Me) gave it a go with Edward Norton having the honors of playing the giant green rage monster (this role later being handed over to Mark Ruffalo). The Incredible Hulk follows Dr. Bruce Banner, a victim of a failed World War II experiment that was intended to make “super soldiers” immune to…
