Mark Strong in Talks to Play SHAZAM Villain

After years of development, New Line is finally moving forward with DC’s Shazam movie, which will be directed by David Sandberg. Zachary Levi was recently cast as Earth’s Mightiest Mortal, with production expected to begin in February. Now, we have more casting news.

According to The Wrap, Mark Strong is in negotiations to play Shazam‘s villain, Dr. Sivana. With Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam moving into his own movie rather than Shazam, fans speculated that we could see Sivana instead, given his long history in the comics. This marks Strong’s latest comic book role, following Sinestro in 2011’s Green Lantern and Merlin in the Kingsman movies.

In other news, Variety has learned that actress Grace Fulton is also joining Shazam. She starred in Sandberg’s last film, Annabelle: Creation. Her role is unknown, but is described as a friend of Billy Batson’s. Could she be Mary Marvel? We’ll have to wait and see.

Stay tuned for more as we have it. Shazam is set to hit theaters in April 2019.
