KRYPTON Casts Iconic Superman Villain Brainiac
At San Diego Comic-Con this year, it was confirmed that SyFy’s Krypton show will include several DC characters from the present day, despite taking place centuries before Kal-El’s birth. Among these characters is Brainiac, one of Superman’s most iconic villains. Now, that character has been cast, along with the Man of Steel’s great-grandmother.
According to Deadline, Da Vinci’s Demons alum Blake Ritson has landed the series regular role of Brainiac on Krypton. The show’s version of the character is described as one of Superman’s oldest and dangerous villains who is “…a parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence.”
Additionally, Ray Donovan actress Paula Malcomson has been cast as Charys, the matriarch of the House of El and Superman’s great-grandmother. The character was played by another actress in the pilot, but now, the series is recasting. On the show, Charys “…helps her son Seg navigate the treacherous pitfalls of Kandor City, their Kryptonian home embattled with oppression and revolt.”
Stay tuned for more as we have it. Krypton premieres sometime next year on SyFy.
