HBO’s WATCHMEN Sets Main Cast
We’re getting closer and closer to the latest take on Watchmen, which is being overseen by Damon Lindelof at HBO. This week, the network announced the primary cast for the show. Per TV Line, Watchmen will star Regina King (The Leftovers), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Louis Gossett Jr. (Roots), Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk), Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby), and Andrew Howard (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). First Details on New ARROW, THE FLASH and SUPERGIRL Characters
Arrow and The Flash have finished their seasons, with Supergirl still going for a few more weeks. All three shows are returning for new seasons in the fall, and inevitably, that means new characters. Today, we have some new details on what to expect from those new characters. Per TV Line, Arrow is currently looking to cast two new recurring characters for its seventh season. One is an anti-vigilante recruit at the SCPD, while the other is a gay tech whiz who has a “heartbreaking” past. SyFy Renews KRYPTON for Season 2
Ahead of its season one finale tomorrow night, SyFy has finally decided the fate of its Superman prequel series, Krypton. Today, the network announced (via TV Line) that the show has been renewed for a second season. This season has revolved around Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather, working with others to stop the pending threat of Brainiac, who seeks to collect Kandor City and (eventually) destroy Krypton. Among his allies are Adam Strange and General Zod, who are both from the future. Season two is expected to arrive sometime in 2019. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN Release Date and Bonus Features Announced
DC’s next animated title is The Death of Superman, the latest adaptation of the Man of Steel’s deadliest battle in comics. Today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment confirmed that the movie hits digital stores on July 24th, with the Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K releases arriving on August 7th. GOTHAM Showrunner Developing Alfred Pennyworth TV Show at Epix
It was recently confirmed that Fox’s Gotham will return for a fifth and final season next year. But showrunner Bruno Heller has already lined up his next big project, and it too is based on Batman lore. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heller is developing the prequel series Pennyworth at Epix, which has made a 10-episode straight-to-series order. As you might have guessed, the show explores the origin of Alfred Pennyworth, the Wayne family’s butler. The series is set in 1960s London, and it depicts Alfred as a former British SAS soldier who forms a secret company and works with Thomas Wayne. Production Update for BIRDS OF PREY Movie
DC Films is finally moving forward with its next Harley Quinn-centric movie, which is based on the Birds of Prey comics. Last month, filmmaker Cathy Yan was hired to direct the film, produced by and starring Margot Robbie. Not much beyond that is known, though Robbie recently teased an R-rating for the project. Now, we know when production will begin. According to Heroic Hollywood, Birds of Prey is on track to begin production in January. Location details are currently unknown. DOOM PATROL Series in the Works at DC Universe
Later this year, DC Entertainment will launch its long-awaited streaming service, DC Universe. The platform will be home to several original shows, such as Titans, Swamp Thing, Metropolis, and the animated shows Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. Now, a sixth show has been revealed. DC has announced that a Doom Patrol series is in development at DC Universe. The service made a 13-episode straight-to-series order. Production will begin this year for a 2019 release.
