A live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is in the works at Netflix with the original series creators involved.
After the massive disappointment that was 2010’s The Last Airbender, it seemed like it would only be a pipe dream (or really a total and utter nightmare) that we would get a sequel let alone a franchise. Fans of the hit Nickelodeon cartoon from the mid-2000s have been clamoring for a more accurate live-action take on the source material, and now it looks like they will finally get their wish.
Netflix has announced that a live-action series is in development. Deadline reports that the new series will be made in partnership with Nickelodeon and that original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will be both executive producing the series and serving as showrunners.
