HBO’s WATCHMEN Sets Main Cast
We’re getting closer and closer to the latest take on Watchmen, which is being overseen by Damon Lindelof at HBO. This week, the network announced the primary cast for the show.
Per TV Line, Watchmen will star Regina King (The Leftovers), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Louis Gossett Jr. (Roots), Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk), Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby), and Andrew Howard (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Their characters are currently unknown.
Earlier this week, Lindelof posted a lengthy open letter on Instagram, detailing his love for Watchmen and its impact on his personal life. He explains that his series won’t be another adaptation/recreation of the graphic novel; rather, it is an original story that has a contemporary setting and treats the comic as canon. It will also include brand new characters. Zack Snyder’s Watchmen movie was a very faithful adaptation of the comic, so it makes sense for the HBO series to do something different.
Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Watchmen will begin production sometime this year.
