With Supergirl now at The CW for its second season, the network is moving forward with furthering their ambitions to have Kara Zor-El team-up with The Flash and possibly Arrow (both of which are also CW shows) more often. Supergirl and The Flash have already shared an episode together, with Barry making an appearance on Supergirl‘s “Worlds Finest” episode last season on CBS, while Kara has yet to meet Green Arrow in DC’s television universe (though that’ll soon change). CW Seed Announces New Animated DC Show, FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY
In addition to the four live action shows, The CW has an animated DC series, Vixen, on the CW Seed app. Now, a second show for the format has been announced, further expanding the universe created by Arrow. At TCA 2016 today (via TV Line), The CW unveiled a new animated series – Freedom Fighters: The Ray, based on the DC Comics hero of the same name. The show marks the first show to star a gay superhero. It is executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim. The series will premiere on CW Seed sometime in 2017. Mirror Master is Finally Coming to THE FLASH in Season 3
The Flash introduced many of the character’s famous rogues during its first two seasons. So far, the show has featured Weather Wizard, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Trickster and many more. But one villain that has been noticeably absent is Mirror Master. Well, this character is finally confirmed to be popping up on the series next season. Warner Bros. Television has confirmed to Comic Book Resources that Aquarius alum Grey Damon will play Sam Scudder, aka Mirror Master. THE FLASH Movie to Begin Production Early Next Year in London
The first DC film scheduled for release after Justice League is The Flash, starring Ezra Miller as the Scarlet Speedster. Rick Famuyiwa will direct the movie, which will co-star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the script. Now, we know when and where the film will begin shooting. According to On Location Vacations, production on The Flash will commence in January. Filming will take place in London, where Justice League is currently shooting. Wonder Woman also spent some time in the UK during production. The Flash was previously slated for a March 16th, 2018 release date. DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Casts its Stargirl
Back at San Diego Comic-Con this year, it was announced that Stargirl will appear in season two of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. She will serve as a member of the Justice Society of America. Now, the superheroine has officially been cast. According to IGN, Power Rangers and iZombie alum Sarah Grey will play Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl. It’s unclear which episode will mark her debut, while it’s unknown whether this is a recurring or regular role.
