BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Filming Scenes With IMAX Cameras
This week, during shooting for a key scene for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, IMAX cameras were spotted on set. The scene in question is a flashback to the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, confirming that the Zack Snyder-directed film will feature yet another iteration of the event that changed Bruce Wayne’s life forever and set him on the course to become Batman.
After cameras have been spotted on the set, a rep for IMAX has confirmed to Variety that at least some scenes for Batman v Superman are being shot in the format. This marks the first time Snyder has utilized IMAX cameras while filming, even though Man of Steel was shown in the format. Dawn of Justice is also only the seventh film to be shot with IMAX cameras; this type of camera was also used in production for The Dark Knight Rises, Interstellar, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and other movies.
It’s unknown if IMAX cameras will be used for filming any other scenes in Batman v Superman besides the Waynes murder sequence. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters March 25th, 2016. The second installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer.
