OFFICIAL: Changing of the Guard and New Horizons in 2021
This website’s been on one heck of a journey. What started in 2013 as a little blog called Watchtower of Babel has grown far more than I could have ever imagined. To date we’ve published nearly 4,000 articles, graduated college, started careers, gotten married, survived a shutdown, weathered a global pandemic, and somehow this little site has kept on going. I joined the old Watchtower crew in 2017, and people I’ve met here have become lifelong friends. The site we now know as WOBAM Entertainment draws its greatest strength from being a beacon where fans can express themselves with likeminded people. We shun toxic fandom and embrace being a platform…

SPOILER REVIEW: Limetown (TV series)
When it first hit the scene in 2015, Limetown was the podcast everyone was talking about. It was hip, it was mysterious, it was exciting; part of the first wave of true crime podcasts. What made Limetown unique was that it was fictional, yet oh so close to reality; many listeners were shocked to find out it wasn’t real at all. I reviewed the first season back then and gave it a solid 5/5 stars. Fast forward to 2019, and the series was adapted for television by Facebook Watch and the team at Iron Ocean Productions. While I missed the show during its original run, it recently made its way…

The Weeknd’s transformation into Daft Punk is a win for music
Warning: this article discusses depictions of violence and abuse. Reader discretion is advised. One of the most unique musicians working today is Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd. His work is catchy, memorable, and above all, deeply visceral. He brings a veneer of class to lyrics of melancholy and heartbreak. He’s off-putting to some, and to others a lyrical genius, spitting fresh R&B with falsetto highs. The Weeknd began a stride in 2016 at the 58th Grammy Awards, winning awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B Performance, and wrapping the year with the release of his triple platinum album, Starboy. Starboy was a work that draws its strength from…

REVIEW: The Last of Us Part II
Warning: this review contains major spoilers and discussion of violence. If you don’t wanna be spoiled, this is your last chance. We’re talking awayI don’t know what I’m to sayI’ll say it anyway “Take On Me,” a-ha When a work of fiction leaves me speechless at the end, it says a lot about the power of that work. Myst. Hamilton. Uncharted 4. The Last Jedi. Titanic. The Fault in Our Stars. Random Access Memories. The Book Thief. Just to name a few. The Last of Us (Part I) was such a work. When I first played it years ago, I was appalled by the brutal violence; but I was also…

Don’t Go It Alone: What to Watch, Play, and Listen to During the Coronavirus Outbreak
Unless if you’ve been living under a rock, you know allllllllll about COVID19 aka Coronavirus aka the greatest threat to mankind since memes. Most of the globe is currently under quarantine or social distancing, and that can get boring very fast. My good friend Michael already made a list of 14 shows to watch while self-quarantining, but there’s a lot of content out there. So here’s my own list of media to catch up on while you survive our microscopic buddies. Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access) Star Trek on TV has been in a lull since Star Trek: Nemesis. Sure, we had three great movies from Bad Robot, but…

SONG REVIEW: “Ocean to Ocean” by Pitbull feat. Rhea
The most important thing to know about "Ocean to Ocean" is that "Ocean to Ocean" is not a song: "Ocean to Ocean" is freedom.

REVIEW: GLASS (2019) – The “Batman v Superman” We Deserved
Glass doesn't try to one-up its predecessors. Instead, Glass is a film more interested in asking what it means to be a mastermind, a hero, or a villain.

REVIEW: UNBREAKABLE (2000)
Heroes walk among us, and they take the shape of ordinary people taking life a day at a time. They’re our police officers, our teachers, our baristas, parents, lovers, and friends (and also Kenny Rogers). But we live in a culture with misplaced priorities. A culture that idolizes actors and politicians. One obsessed with the extraordinary heroes of comic books and the superhuman feats they can achieve. Writer/Director M Night Shyamalan saw this disparity at a time when comic book movies were a blip on the cultural landscape. And in Unbreakable, he exploits the disparity in a clever way. David Dunn (Bruce Willis) is a an everyday security guard with…

SONG REVIEW: “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)” by Post Malone & Swae Lee
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is less than two months away, waaaaah?! The film’s tie-ins are starting to drop, and at last we have the theme song for Mile Morales’ first theatrical outing. How is this collab between Post Malone and Swae Lee hold up? Let’s find out…. This track takes the form of a love song, which is intriguing for a movie about a bunch of Spider-Men and Women and Hams teaming up. The subject of the song is referred to as sunflower numerous times by Swae and Post: Then you’re left in the dust, unless I stuck by ya You’re the sunflower, I think your love would be too…

Behind The Scenes on BLOODSHOT: Updates, Nerd Bosses, and a Sweet First Look
We’re just over a year away from Vailant Comics’ first silver screen adaptation: Bloodshot. Staring Vin Diesel and a whole host of other people, Bloodshot focuses on a memory wiped supersoldier and the secretive organization who spawned him. The 2020 film, written by Eric Heisserer and directed by Dave Wilson, is highly anticipated by yours truly. So it’s with great delight that the man, the myth, the legend, Dinesh Shamdasani, has been dropping all manner of juicy news bits on the project the last few weeks. On September 8th, Shamdasani teased his eminent arrival in Cape Town. Of course all this awesomeness arrives as I’m about to leave for the airport!! #CapeTownBound pic.twitter.com/ZErDPYJTqP…
