FEATURE: Five DC Characters We Want to See in THE LEGO MOVIE SEQUEL
The LEGO Movie introduced characters from multiple intellectual properties, including DC Comics. Batman is, of course, the most noticeable addition, as he played a key supporting role and stars in spin-off The LEGO Batman Movie. The LEGO Movie also featured Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Aquaman and Flash in minor roles. With The LEGO Movie Sequel coming in 2019, it only makes sense to bring in other well-known characters, including those from the DC Universe. Part of the appeal of The LEGO Movie was seeing characters from multiple franchises interact in one film, and DC is one of Warner Bros.’ biggest franchise. So, it makes sense to continue…

FEATURE: Five More Theatrical DC Animated Movies We Want to See After LEGO BATMAN
Typically, DC Entertainment’s animated movies have been released direct-to-video, rather than in theaters. There are a couple exceptions, of course. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was released in theaters in 1993, while Batman: The Killing Joke and Return of the Caped Crusaders had limited theatrical runs last year. Now, this week, The LEGO Batman Movie is hitting theaters. The spin-off film is gaining rave reviews from critics, and it is tracking for a big box office opening. Hopefully, LEGO Batman‘s success will lead to more theatrically released animated films set in the DC Universe. Warner Bros. Animation has been beefing up its slate in recent years, tackling franchises such as…

SPOILER REVIEW: Arrow: 5.11 “Second Chances”
Here we go. Please bear with me. I’m new here, I’m a huge fan of Arrow, with a need for a slight romantic vibe, so needless to say, I want Oliver to be with Felicity, but we can get to that some other time. I’ve watched this show from day one, so I’ve been with it through all of its good days and bad days. In my opinion, there’s more good than bad, so I will disagree with many critics of this show. But down to business. This week’s episode covered the introduction of the (potential) new black canary. I’m extremely partial to Katie Cassidy’s portrayal of her, so I…

Review: LEGO BATMAN 3: BEYOND GOTHAM
If you’ve ever played a LEGO video game before, you pretty much know what you’ll be getting yourself into with Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the third installment in the series of LEGO Batman games. You play as miniature Legoized (I know that’s not a word and I don’t care) versions of characters from a particular franchise. As them, you break everything breakable in sight for those precious studs (basically coins) to unlock more characters to play as. While that’s going on, you’re also assembling Lego bricks to create objects in order to solve various puzzles. LEGO’s formula for video games hasn’t changed much at all over the years, so you’ll…

Review: LEGO BATMAN: THE MOVIE
We love LEGO’s. We love Batman. So naturally we’d love LEGO Batman: The Movie, right? The first film in the series of LEGO DC features, LEGO Batman gives us a fun romp through the LEGO World. The film starts off with Batman (Troy Baker) and Superman (Travis Willingham) being taken out (killed?) by Lex Luthor (Clancy Brown) and the Joker (Chris Corey Smith). When then flashback to two days prior, where we see Lex [who’s running for president] lose the Man of the Year Award to none other than Bruce Wayne. The Joker enters scene and Lex gets an idea. With the Joker’s help they can take down Superman and Batman once…

THE LEGO MOVIE SEQUEL Recruits a New Director
The LEGO Movie was a huge hit back in 2014, and since then, Warner Bros. is building a cinematic universe based around the film. The first spin-off, The LEGO Batman Movie, hits theaters this weekend, with The LEGO Ninjago Movie dropping later this year. Of course, however, we still have a direct sequel in the works, now with a new director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trolls co-director Mike Mitchell will take the helm on The LEGO Movie Sequel. Rob Schrab was originally attached to direct, but he dropped out due to “creative differences.” Mitchell certainly has a more impressive animation portfolio; he has also directed Shrek Forever After and…

SUPERGIRL Casts Kevin Sorbo in Mysterious Villain Role
The other day, it was announced that Lois & Clark star Teri Hatcher is playing a key new villain on Supergirl this season. Now, the CW series has cast another familiar face as another enemy. The network has announced (via Entertainment Weekly) that Hercules himself, Kevin Sorbo, has join the cast of Supergirl. He will recur this season as a currently unnamed villain. Other details, including which episode he’ll first appear in, are under wraps. Supergirl executive producer Andrew Kreisberg gave the following statement on Sorbo’s casting. “Since his days as Hercules, Kevin Sorbo has brought such a strong presence to the screen and we couldn’t be more excited to have…

FEATURE: Five Story Ideas for a Fourth LEGO BATMAN Video Game
One of LEGO’s most prominent video game franchises is the Batman series, which began in 2008 with LEGO Batman: The Video Game. The franchise was expanded with 2012’s LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes and 2014’s LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Both sequels expanded the LEGO DC Universe beyond Batman, incorporating Superman, Green Lantern, and many other DC heroes and villains. Of course, with any video game franchise, the potential is there to continue with another title. There are certainly a lot of storytelling possibilities to continue the LEGO adventures of Batman and the Justice League. Here, we discuss five potential options. LEGO Batman 4: The Speed Force The Flash has…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×11 – “Dead or Alive”
The Flash (3×11) – “Dead or Alive” Written by: Zack Stentz Story by: Benjamin Raab & Deric A Hughes Directed by: Harry Jierjian Digging right in this week. After a pretty meaningless dream sequence from HR Wells we open with Barry and Wally chasing down some gun runners. It looks like the speedsters are working well together and Barry even lets Wally take a bow (and a selfie) with the high school cheerleaders they save before he leaves behind a flaming lightning bolt. Bad call Barry, the flaming logo is a DareDevil thing that’s gimmick infringement and he’s a lawyer. Back at STAR Labs, new teammate Julian has…

Review: LEGO JUSTICE LEAGUE: GOTHAM CITY BREAK OUT
LEGO DC Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Break Out (try saying that three times fast), is the sixth film set in the DC LEGO Universe (DCLU?). It’s the anniversary of Batman’s (Troy Baker) first mission, and to celebrate Batgirl (Sarah Hyland) and Nightwing (Will Friedle) take Batman out on a much needed vacation. Batman is reluctant to leave Gotham City unprotected, but Superman (Nolan North) and Robin (Scott Menville) are willing to fill in for the Caped Crusader. Superman underestimates the power of Batman’s villains and that leads to some pretty funny moments. The film shines when it’s Superman and and the Justice League trying to stop the Batman’s rogues.…
