The Legacy of THE AVENGERS
Superheroes have been around for almost 100 years. They are the American gods, mythology created to inspire and to entertain with their legend. Superman taking to the skies, showing us how to be our best self. Batman clinging to the darkness, showing that our imperfections are what make us who we are. These new gods have shaped fiction in the 20th century, so it’s only fitting that they also change the world of film. Superman made us believe that a man could fly. Batman showed us how to dance with the devil. Still, even with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and 20th Century Fox’s X-Men, we never really saw the comics reach…

RUMOR: John Slattery Is Joining Avengers 4
Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to a close in 2019, and new info trickles down by the day. Earlier this week we got our first look at Carol Danvers and her Starforce in Captain Marvel. And now we’ve got another rumor about Avengers 4, courtesy of our friends at The Hashtag Show. Writer Charles Murphy has the scoop that John Slattery filmed scenes for Avengers 4. Slattery played an older Howard Stark in Iron Man 2, Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War. The context of Slattery’s scenes remain unknown, but considering the mystery of how the team is going to defeat Thanos, maybe that’s for the best.…

Feature: Let’s Rank Marvel Phase One
Hello there. Your favorite Swed is back again with another post. However, instead of reviewing a Superman movie, (which my three previous one been.) I’m going to give you a top list of Marvel’s Phase One. Before you think about doing a rage comment or two down below, let’s remember that this is just one person’s preference. If you feel different, comment below and let me know. I would love to hear it. With that said, let’s get going. 6. Iron Man 2. When I started working on this list, this was not the movie that I thought would be in the downright bottom. However, the more I thought about…

Our Top 10 Marvel Studios Post-Credits Scenes So Far
Marvel Studios has popularized the notion of including at least one extra scene during or after a movie’s credits. Almost every movie has included one or two bonus scenes, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had, like, five. In fact, other studios have adopted this concept, specifically a few DC movies and the X-Men saga. Today, we’re ranking our top 10 MCU mid- and post-credits scenes so far… #10: Thanos Does It Himself in Avengers: Age of Ultron By this point, Thanos has already appeared briefly a few times in the MCU, building up for his epic clash with the Avengers in Infinity War. His last appearance was in 2015’s Age of Ultron, where he found…

Review: IRON MAN 3
Arguably the most polarizing installment in the MCU up to this point, Iron Man 3 is Shane Black’s vision of a superhero movie. And the central reason it is so polarizing is because of that Mandarin twist that occurs during the halfway point of the movie. While some found that twist to be a genius subversion of expectations, others, especially comic readers looking forward to the Mandarin getting accurately portrayed on the big screen, hated that the Ben Kingsley villain wound up simply being a punchline. Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian is the real central villain of the picture. Where do I stand on this movie? Let’s find out. Cue the music. Iron…

FEATURE: WHERE IS THE SOUL STONE?!?! And is Tony Stark Connected?
[Possible spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War. We haven’t seen the movie, this is just speculation based on marketing observations and leaked bits and pieces. If you want the blindest viewing experience, come back and read this after you see the movie and let us know what we got wrong!] The Soul Stone. The most elusive of all Infinity Stones. From the moment The Collector explained this concentrated ingot in Guardians of the Galaxy, fans have been obsessed with figuring out where it was. And as Avengers: Infinity War rapidly approaches, we still don’t have a clue. Well, I say we don’t. A new trailer released on April 7th gave us our…

Retrospective Review: IRON MAN 2
This review is part of our 20 Days of Infinity War. Click here to for more WOBAM awesome. – Sirs and Misses, I’m gonna have to ask you to exit the donut and take a journey with me. The year is 2010; the film, Iron Man 2; and I, a wide eyed teenager, feigning little interest in the MCU. This was, in part, for a couple reasons. One, I only saw the first Iron Man after I bought it used from my Ingles Video Store. And the only reason I did that is because Iron Man was the only DVD I knew about that had the teaser trailer for the…

Retrospective: IRON MAN – 10 Years Later
We never truly understood what a superhero movie could be until the first Iron Man film hit theaters in 2008. We had classic films like Superman: The Movie, Batman ’89, Spider-Man, and Batman Begins; but none ever attempted to do what Iron Man did. Iron Man dared to try something that has rarely been done. It gave us a flawed hero. In the films mentioned above the heroes face challenges, and at times things seem to look insurmountable. Aside from Batman Begins, most superhero films make sure our heroes are pure. Whether they’re saving cats from trees or damsels in distress, one thing is clear, they’re the good guys. In…

Retrospective Review: IRON MAN 2 (AC/DC Soundtrack)
AC/DC’s Iron Man 2 album successfully combined two popular brands. The Iron Man 2 soundtrack album was released in 2010 to coincide with the movie’s release and was supplied by Australian rock band AC/DC. This soundtrack is unique because it doesn’t contain any new material that was released up until that point. However, this is not a greatest hits record because several of their most famous songs like ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ and ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’ aren’t featured on this album. It’s more of a compilation of songs from AC/DC’s storied career. This album contains fifteen songs. Some of the songs on this album are…
