The CW Considering A Third DC Comics Television Show; Liam Neeson Was Approached To Reprise Ra’s al Ghul Role On ARROW

This has been a good week for The CW. Fan-favorite DC series Arrow made its triumphant return, while spin-off show The Flash premiered the night before. Both shows continue to expand The CW’s take on the DC Universe, and naturally, there would be talk of other potential spin-offs. CW President Mark Pedowitz confirmed to Buzzfeed that the network, along with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, is considering a third television series starring a DC character. “There are discussions going on, but I can’t tell you what they are.”

Of course, there are a number of options to consider. In addition to the multiple Ferris Air Easter eggs, the Arrow crew has expressed interest in introducing Green Lantern at some point, but could The CW have a budget to bring the Emerald Knight to life properly in his own series? Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer/Atom is another possibility, while Geoff Johns has hinted at a potential Booster Gold appearance on The Flash. Then there’s the interest in doing a Suicide Squad-centric spin-off, but with a movie moving forward at WB, that one may be less certain. Additionally, it was recently reported that TNT’s potential Titans series could exist in the same world as Arrow and The Flash. There are so many directions they can go, so hopefully, we’ll hear something soon.

Also found in Buzzfeed’s Arrow feature, we have a very interesting tidbit on Ra’s al Ghul. Actor Liam Neeson expressed interest in reprising the role from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises, though it wasn’t clear if he meant for Arrow or another movie. Either way, the crew of the CW series was apparently “thrilled” to hear this, and Pedowitz revealed that they actually approached Neeson regarding playing Ra’s al Ghul again. “We never thought he would. We quickly went to him, just on the off-chance that he had the time to do it.”

Of course, it looked like he didn’t have the time. The role later went to actor Matt Nable, and the League of Assassins leader is expected to make his debut on Arrow in episode four of the season. For the rest of Buzzfeed’s feature on Arrow, click the link above.
