The CW President Teases Next Fall’s Arrowverse Crossover; BLACK LIGHTNING Won’t Be Involved
The CW originally began crossover events in the fall of 2014, when The Flash and Arrow united for a two-episode event. The formula was repeated the next year, and last year’s crossover was the biggest one yet, bringing in Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Of course, this trend will continue this coming fall, with all four shows returning for new seasons. WONDER WOMAN Covers Latest Issue of Entertainment Weekly
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly is hitting shelves soon. The cover story for this issue is DC Films’ Wonder Woman, which is hitting theaters in two weeks (!!!). In the issue, EW explores the decades-long journey to Diana Prince getting her own movie, as well as director Patty Jenkins’ involvement. The CW is holding its Upfronts presentation today. In addition to its fall schedule and a new Black Lightning synopsis, we now have some plot details for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season three. In the season two finale (SPOILERS!), the Legends defeated the Legion of Doom and destroyed the Spear of Destiny. This was done by travelling back in time and interacting with their past selves. BLACK LIGHTNING Set for Midseason Premiere on The CW; Full Synopsis Released
The CW has unveiled its schedule for the 2017-2018 television year. While most of the network’s DC offerings will return in the fall – with Arrow getting a new timeslot – the latest show will have to wait a little longer. Black Lightning, from creators Salim & Mara Brock Akil and Greg Berlanti, is scheduled to premiere during midseason on The CW. ARROW Shifting to Thursday Nights Next Season
For its five-year run, Arrow has consistently stayed in the Wednesdays at 8 PM EST slot on The CW’s schedule. Now, with the show returning for a sixth season next fall, that’s about to change. The CW has released its 2017-2018 schedule, and Arrow is aiming for a new timeslot. Arrow will now air on Thursdays at 9 PM EST, following Supernatural. Its Wednesdays at 8 slot will be taken over by Greg Berlanti’s other (non-DC) comic book show Riverdale. Meanwhile, the other three Arrowverse shows will retain their current timeslots. DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season 2 Coming to Blu-Ray in August
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow concluded its second season last month. This season really saw the show come into its own, as it fully embraced the over-the-top fun and action. The Legends also faced off with the Legion of Doom, comprised of some of the Arrowverse’s greatest villains. Now, the Legends’ second season is coming soon to home video. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Second Season will be released August 15th on DVD and Blu-Ray. ABC Shifts AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. to Midseason and New Timeslot; INHUMANS Joins Fall Schedule
ABC has unveiled its schedule for its 2017-2018 television year, and it confirms some big shifts for its Marvel slate. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will not premiere its fifth season until midseason next year. Not only that, but it’s been given a new timeslot: Fridays at 9 PM EST. However, the season still has a 22-episode order. Meanwhile, Inhumans will occupy the Fridays at 9 PM EST for the fall. It premieres on September 22nd, following the IMAX premiere of the first two episodes. Following director Rick Famuyiwa’s departure a few months back, Warner Bros. has been taking its time with DC Films’ The Flash. Screenwriter Joby Harold was hired to do a page-one rewrite back in January, but since then, word has been quiet on the Scarlet Speedster’s very first movie. The film will star Ezra Miller as Flash, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Billy Crudup as Henry Allen, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
