Brenton Thwaites to Play Dick Grayson on DC’s TITANS

We’re only a few weeks away from the start of production on Titans, the new original series that will spearhead DC’s streaming service. DC previously announced casting for Raven and Starfire, and now, we know who’s playing Dick Grayson.

DC has confirmed that actor Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) will star as Dick Grayson on Titans. The character description is your classic Grayson origin story: After his parents’ death in a freak circus accident, Grayson is adopted by Bruce Wayne and becomes Robin. But eventually, Grayson decides to leave Batman’s shadow and become his own man. This leads to him becoming a “leader, mentor, and father figure” to the Titans.

Geoff Johns had this to say about the casting announcement. “Dick Grayson is one of the most important and iconic heroes in the DC universe, and it wasn’t easy to find him but we have. Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman’s former protege and the Titans’ future leader. We’re extremely lucky he’s chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character.”

In other news, That Hashtag Show reports that three more character are joining Titans. Actors Alan Ritchson and Rebecca Rittenhouse are being considered for the roles of Hawk and Dove, a crime-fighting couple who will guest star but have series regular options. Meanwhile, Detective Amy Rohrbach, Grayson’s partner in Bludhaven PD, is also being cast.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Titans premieres next year on DC’s untitled streaming service.
