Billy Crudup in Talks to Play Barry Allen’s Father in THE FLASH

Casting is well underway for Warner Bros.’ The Flash movie. Ezra Miller reprises his role as the Scarlet Speedster, with Kiersey Clemons playing Iris West. Rick Famuyiwa is directing. Additionally, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg will return in this film. Now, the studio is looking to fill the role of Flash’s father.

According to Variety, actor Billy Crudup is in negotiations to play Barry Allen’s dad in The Flash. This would serve as Crudup’s second DC movie role; he previously played Dr. Manhattan in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. Additionally, both Crudup and Miller appeared in last year’s The Standford Prison Experiment.

In the “Flash: Rebirth” comic by Geoff Johns, Henry Allen is wrongly accused of murdering his wife, Nora, who was actually killed by Professor Zoom. This leads to Henry’s imprisonment and, subsequently, his son Barry’s determination to enter forensic science. The CW’s Flash television series (where Henry is played by John Wesley Shipp) adapted this aspect of the character’s history. Could we also see it in the movie?

The Flash is expected to begin production later this year or early next year in London. The movie was previously slated for a March 16th, 2018 release date. However, Warner Bros. recently slated the Tomb Raider reboot on that same date. A new date for The Flash has yet to be confirmed.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
