One-Day Theatrical Release for BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS Announced
This summer, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment teamed up to screen Batman: The Killing Joke in select theaters for a two-night event. Traditionally, DC’s animated movies go directly to DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download, and there are no theatrical showings. However, The Killing Joke was a success, grossing $3.8 million in its two nights in cinemas.
Now, another animated DC movie is getting a limited theatrical run. Fathom Events (via IGN) has announced that Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will be shown at over 700 theaters on Monday, October 10th. There will be three showings: 2:00 PM. 7:30 PM, and 10:00 PM EST. Currently, the movie – based on the classic 1966 television series – will only screen in theaters on this day.
In addition to the film, theatrical showings of Return of the Caped Crusaders will exclusively have a pre-screening introduction, as well as a post-screening featurette called “Those Dastardly Desperados.” This featurette explores how Batman’s enemies have become American pop culture icons.
