TAKING A STAND: Why We Will Not Be Covering Bryan Singer’s RED SONJA (Or His Future Endeavors)
It’s not everyday that we, the staff of WOBAM! Entertainment, face a moral quandary. But in light of resurfaced allegations against X-Men director Bryan Singer, we feel compelled to draw some necessary lines. Bryan Singer (Superman Returns, Bohemian Rhapsody) currently faces multiple accusations of sexual misconduct against a minor. These are serious accusations that the media has largely ignored; past allegations and a 2017 lawsuit against Singer were swept under the rug, and we were fast made to forget about them. Then the Me Too movement happened, and those allegations slowly resurfaced. Now this week, an expose by The Atlantic tells a darker picture of his escapades. As a comic…

REVIEW: BLACK PANTHER
All Hail the King! With his first introduction in Captain America: Civil War, The Black Panther quickly gained a mass following as audiences, both comic readers and not, realized the potential influence this character could have on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as Hollywood as a whole. Two years down the road, people have been holding there breath in anticipation of what this film could bring to the table. In a world of dissonance, rising racial tensions, and an overall lack of unity, the standalone film had a lot of weight on its shoulders, and an objective to fulfill. The question now is, how did it do? As far…

Review: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2
Topping Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy was always going to be a difficult task (even if Spider-Man 3 was a mess, which it was). Sony nonetheless gave it another go by rebooting the character, this time with Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) portraying Peter Parker and donning the Spidey costume. Sony tapped 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb (what a fitting last name) to helm their rebooted franchise starting with 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. I consider that to be the second best Spider-Man film behind Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. Controversial opinion, I know. Webb then returned to direct the sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014, which many were looking forward to with…

FEATURE: Ten Villains Who Should Join The DCEU
1. Catwoman One of Batman’s earliest adversaries and certainly one of his most well known, cat-burglar Selina Kyle/Catwoman is particularly noteworthy for doubling as Bruce Wayne’s most consistent love interest. The character has featured in both previous Batman film series, specifically appearing in Batman Returns (portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer) and The Dark Knight Rises (portrayed by Anne Hathaway). Catwoman being absent from the DCEU would be a very odd and disappointing exclusion, so hopefully Ben Affleck & Geoff Johns can find some place for her in the upcoming Batman solo film. Who Should Play Her: Rebecca Hall Aside from what a pleasure it would be to see Affleck share an onscreen reunion with…

Review: BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
With the future of the DC universe hanging in the balance, many wonder if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice can pull the weight of being both a good film and a jumping off point for future films. Director Zack Snyder’s epic blockbuster is a continuation of 2013’s Man of Steel, and the end events of that film directly tie into this film. Snyder’s decision to not shy away from the controversial ending of Man of Steel gives the director a chance to not only defend his previous work, but also to build upon it. Man of Steel opened to mixed reviews from critics, with many citing overly bombastic action and…

Review: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
As both a film in & of itself and the finale to The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises is not perfect by any stretch. But thankfully, the movie’s flaws are not enough to hold it back from being a satisfying conclusion to one of the best cinematic sagas of our time. What makes the film a worthy conclusion to the trilogy despite a large number of flaws is its deft handling of Bruce Wayne and his character development. One of the core components of Batman’s character, throughout his entire history, is his inability to move on from grief; his entire motivation stems from the trauma of watching his…

New WONDER WOMAN Promo Image Unveiled
2017’s Wonder Woman is a hotly anticipated film, a given considering it will be the fourth film in ever-expanding DC Extended Universe and will be the first solo film about the title character. Should the film prove a hit, such success could lead to more female-led superhero films, something many would argue the genre needs quite a bit. Given the level of talent involved, from director Patty Jenkins to a cast that includes Connie Nielsen & Robin Wright, the film achieving the critical acclaim that has thus far eluded the DCEU is a very real possibility. Check below to see a recently revealed Entertainment Weekly promotion image from the film, featuring Gal Gadot as…

Review: THE DARK KNIGHT
After successfully reviving the Batman franchise with the spectacular Batman Begins in 2005, director Christopher Nolan returned to helm the sequel, simply titled The Dark Knight. While expectations were high, few anticipated he would deliver the transcendent masterpiece The Dark Knight is widely and rightfully recognized as. Free of the…

Review: BATMAN BEGINS
In 1997, the Batman franchise’s future was left in limbo due to the bomb that is Batman & Robin. Eight years later, Christopher Nolan’s grounded, mature character study/cinematic origin tale of the titular caped crusader, Batman Begins, simultaneously rejuvenated the franchise and set a new bar for the level of depth that comic book adaptations could aspire to. Begins explores the finer details of how Bruce Wayne became Batman and what drives him in his quest to rid Gotham City of crime, something the Batman films up to this date had never given more than a surface glance. Bruce starts as a troubled youth lost in the world, literally and metaphorically, and still haunted by the…
