Did Bots Inflate the JUSTICE LEAGUE Audience Score?
Ahhhh, Rotten Tomatoes! That infamous aggregator that can sink a film or ensure one’s success with a flick of the Tomatometer. Much has been said about Justice League‘s Tomatometer score, and some have even theorized that the film’s audience score may have been artificially inflated the same way The Last Jedi was accused of having its score artificially deflated. However, for the first time there is empirical evidence that this is not the case, and that the cause for the review disparity runs far deeper. Prominent YouTube personality MatPat, and his team from The Film Theorists channel, developed a Natural Language Sentiment Algorithm that analyzed the text of Justice League reviews on…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 4×16- “Run Iris, Run”
The Flash (4×16) – “Run Iris, Run” Written by: Eric Wallace Directed by: Harry Jierjian So by now I think we’ve had the “tropes and clichés as the foundation of Television writing” conversation more than once. We’ve firmly established that they aren’t something that has to be avoided so much as something the producers have to make their own when they use them. There’s three BIG clichés that pretty much every superhero show has done over the years: “The hero loses his/her powers and has to live life like a mortal for an episode,” “The hero visits a world where they never existed or never got…

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Promoting Constantine to Series Regular for Possible Season 4
Legends of Tomorrow hasn’t been formally renewed for a fourth season (yet), but if it is, the show is adding a new character to the team. It has been announced (via TV Line) that Matt Ryan’s John Constantine will be a series regular on Legends next season. That is, if the show is renewed. But the series, along with the rest of The CW’s DC shows, is fully expected to come back. And the promotion of one character is a pretty good indicator of its renewal chances. Constantine starred in his own show on NBC before its infamous cancellation. In 2015, the character was brought into the Arrowverse in an…

BLACK PANTHER is King of the Box Office for Fifth Weekend in a Row
Black Panther has been out for over a month now, but the Marvel Studios blockbuster is still making an insane amount of money. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther retained the top spot yet again with an estimated $27 million. This beats competition from newcomers Tomb Raider ($23.5 million) and I Can Only Imagine ($17.1 million). Black Panther is the first comic book movie to stay at #1 for five weekends in a row, and it’s the first movie to ever do it since Avatar. Black Panther is now at $605.4 million in North America and $1.182 billion worldwide. It is expected to pass The Avengers as the highest-grossing superhero…

Don’t Expect THE BATMAN to Begin Production This Year
Last year, Matt Reeves was hired to take over as writer and director of The Batman. Since then, we haven’t gotten many official updates. Currently, there’s still uncertainty on whether Ben Affleck will reprise the role here (though it’s looking unlikely), while baseless speculation “rumors” of Reeves exiting the film had to be debunked. Now, we have a production update. According to Heroic Hollywood, The Batman is not expected to begin production until 2019. This makes sense, given that Reeves is really taking his time with writing the story and script. Also, Warner Bros. is already shooting 3-4 DC movies this year. Shazam! is filming now, Wonder Woman 2 is shooting…

Casting Updates for VENOM and CAPTAIN MARVEL
Time to take a break from the Avengers: Infinity War insanity. This week, we have a couple of casting updates for two upcoming Marvel-based films. According to Deadline, actress Sope Aluko joined the cast of Sony’s Venom movie, which wrapped production a couple months ago. No word on who she’s playing. Aluko plays Shaman, a guardian of the Heart-Shaped Herb, in Black Panther. However, with Venom expected to take place in its own world without ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we can assume she’s playing someone else here. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel is undergoing a casting shakeup, with DeWanda Wise exiting due to scheduling conflicts. Fortunately, Marvel has already found…

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Breaks Advance Ticket Sales Record After Only 6 Hours
Advance tickets went on sale for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War this morning, around the same time as the release of that jaw-dropping trailer. Well, just a few hours later, the film has already broken a key record. Fandango has announced that Infinity War is now the fastest-selling superhero movie within the first 24 hours of ticket sales. This record was broken six hours after the tickets went on sale. This breaks the record set by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, which was followed by this year’s Black Panther. Everyone already knew that Infinity War would be a huge success, and this is the latest sign of that. Just…
