Since then, Snyder has been out of the spotlight, with fans speculating as to what he’s doing next. And now, we have an answer. Aquaman continues its reign at the box office, as it passes one more key milestone in the history of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. James Wan‘s underseas adventure has hit $1.09 billion worldwide. This puts it past The Dark Knight Rises ($1.085 billion) as the highest grossing DC movie ever. Yes, Aquaman is officially a bigger moneymaker than Batman. Who ever saw that coming? Aquaman has currently made $316.6 million in North America and $774.2 million overseas. While it probably won’t pass Wonder Woman ($412.5 million) domestically, it’s only a few million away from surpassing Suicide Squad ($325.1 million) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($330.4 million). Warner Bros. Reaffirms Emphasis on DC Solo Films After AQUAMAN’s Success
With Warner Bros.’ DC Films receiving mixed results critically and financially over the years, the studio has re-evaluated its approach…at least several times. Most recently, WB committed to emphasizing on solo films driven by directors, rather than big team movies. While these movies take place in the same universe, there won’t be an overarching story, like the Infinity Gauntlet arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And it’s an approach that has worked so far. Wonder Woman earned rave reviews and remains DC Films’ biggest movie domestically. And Aquaman has gone on to make over $1 billion worldwide. Even Man of Steel, which polarized fans, was better received critically than Batman…

AQUAMAN is a Pulp Fiction Comic Book Movie
I do not lightly say that Aquaman is a Homeric epic, a paragon of Pulp Fiction storytelling, a complete hero’s journey. It would be so simple to call it another superhero movie following the established procedures set by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Christopher Nolan’s Batman, or Fox’s X-Men universe. Instead, what is presented is a story told often in comic books, The Pulp Fiction swordsman of Camelot. It follows in the footsteps of The Mummy, Indiana Jones, The Princess Bride, Star Wars, Buck Rogers, Errol Flynn and all the dashing swordsmen who graced the comic book pages of the early 1920s and 30s. In many ways, the…
