DC Films’ Aquaman continues to overperform at the box office, and today, it has passed a key milestone that sets it on track for a new high in the franchise. Aquaman has now surpassed Wonder Woman as the second highest grossing DC film worldwide, with $822.9 million. This includes a massive $606 million from overseas. AVENGERS: ENDGAME Headlines Fandango’s Most Anticipated Movies of 2019
Fandango has released its annual survey, where moviegoers are surveyed on their most anticipated movies of 2019. And unsurprisingly, Marvel Studios is headlining it with its most anticipated blockbuster yet. Avengers: Endgame tops the Most Anticipated Movie category, followed by Marvel’s Captain Marvel in second place. Other names included are M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass, DC’s Joker, and Star Wars: Episode IX. Comic book movies have also dominated Fandango’s other categories. PLASTIC MAN Movie Enters Development (Again) at Warner Bros.
Back in the 1990s, Warner Bros. began to develop a movie starring DC superhero Plastic Man. The project was revived a decade later, with a planned film starring Keanu Reeves and directed by the Wachowskis. Obviously, that never happened. But it looks like Patrick “Eel” O’Brian is being given another shot. A Plastic Man movie is now in development at WB and DC Films. It is being written by up-and-coming scribe Amanda Idoko, who was hired by the studio after searching for half a year. No director is hired yet. Another day, another DC movie that Warner Bros. apparently has in development. Deadline has published an article detailing the recent increase in female-led superhero movies and TV shows, including those by DC. In the article, it is mentioned that there is “talk” of a movie starring Zatanna, in addition to Batgirl, Supergirl, and more. BLUE BEETLE Movie Starring Jaime Reyes in Development at Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. has many, many movies based on DC Comics in development. Now, the studio has added another title to the slate. A movie starring Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle, is in the works. Screenwriter Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is working on the script, with Zev Foreman on board as an executive producer. A director isn’t attached yet. Warner Bros. returns to the DC Universe with next month’s Aquaman, which is already generating a lot of positive buzz from critics.
